"A disturbed gun banner nut."

He sounds like some that are running for the Republican nomination.

Oh, yes, of course, OldCorps. Thank you for pointing this out. Please pardon my oversight. I should have added to my post that we should ban everything. Guns, pens, matches, cigarettes, animals, people, . . ., and OF COURSE, SUVs.

That would give the money grubbing lawyer who wrote the article a great living, until he was eliminated as part of the general ban.

Thank God for good lawyers, some of whom will battle this twit.

Americans are in love with guns and are not brave enough to part with them.

This idiot should prove his bravery by putting a sign in his front yard

UNARMED HOUSEHOLD
NO GUNS INSIDE

Libs love to anthropomorphize and vilify inanimate objects. Makes banning them easier.

And the flip side of this is the depersonalization of "unwanted" human "objects." Makes killing them easier.

"[Burnside is a trial lawyer in Cleveland. He graduated from the University of Charleston in 1999 and was an employee of the West Virginia Senate and Kanawha County Public Defender’s Office.]"

The problem in this country isn't the laws, it's the lawyers.

Guns were invented with the specific purpose to kill. People were not.

And yet they do. From the beginning of time. Go figure.

You sir are an idiot, The People Decide what the Constitution means not the courts, The Constitution is written in language for the common Man, not Scumbag lawyers in dresses,

Unfortunately, while he may be an idiot, he's right. The simple fact, whether we like it or not, IS that the Constitution "means" whatever the "Nine Anointed Ones" decide it means. How else do we explain Roe v Wade, or McCain/Feingold CFR. While these may be terrible law, completely at odds with the actual wording of the Constitution, it's the law of the land. As Dickens said, "The law is a (sic) ass!"

It's kind of a shame that General Burnsides never won the Darwin Award, isn't it?

But it is the courts that interpret the Constitution, not the popular vote.

Well not exactly, it is the courts that interpret if laws passed by the popular vote are Constitutional. However, the legal decision he cites are sad interpretations of the second amendment. Does anyone know if he's correct that they haven't been overturned? Are there other rulings he neglects?

Since we are 'shooting holes' in the U.S. Constitution, I propose we get rid of the First Amendment so I do not have to read this crap?

This idiot would be a candidate for a Cargo Cult since he worships objects. I can't decide if a rope, tar and feathers or Thorazine would be appropriate for his fate.

Burnside was a pompous yankee general who got many men killed and was fired by Lincoln. I see the fruits and berries from this family tree are still pompous.
Burnside--it is the people who kill moron. It is not a piece of hardware.

"The constitutionality of possible gun abolition would be an issue with many Americans who are law-abiding gun owners..."

If it weren't for that dang Constitution....

Molon labe, Mr. Burnside.

**Without a gun, it would be a can of gasoline and a lighter.**

Yep.

I wonder if the author would feel any better if his friend had been hacked to pieces with a machete?

It's sad, but it's a dangerous world.

I don't own a gun and probably never will, but this article is sheer ignorance and stupidity. Take away every gun on the face of the planet, and those with the impulse to kill will find another way - either with a rock, a pipe, a hammer, a knife, a 2x4, a motor vehicle, a poison, etc. etc. If someone wants to kill you, THEY WILL.

This is nothing but a brainless screed from a whiny pacifist who simply hates guns, pure and simple.

On New Year’s Eve, my friend and rowing teammate was killed by a gun in Dunbar. Regardless of who pulled the trigger, I blame the gun.

Yeah, that's the ticket. Blame the gun. God forbid you blame the terrorist in Dunbar, IRAQ who killed your friend. What an absolute moron.
