But the leadership is in the WRONG direction.

He has consistently supported the President on the WOT and the war in Iraq. He has not wavered, just as the President has not. Doesn't that count for anyting? Bush supporters didn't have a problem bringing him on board to speak at the last Republican convention. They pretty much rolled out the red carpet for him. Why? Because Republicans were desperate to hold the White House in '04 so we could continue fighting the WOT. For me, it's still about that. Rudy's main reason for running is 9/11, not to pursue a liberal agenda.

This is useful info to note:

[Giuliani is] saying he'd oppose partial-birth abortion and work to continue to curtail Medicaid funding for abortion. More, he'd appoint judges like Justices Samuel Alito and John Roberts to the Supreme Court.

Thank you. Hunter would be well served if more of his supporters on FR had your positive attitude. We should work to promote our candidate in the primaries, then set aside our differences and get behind the nominee in the general.

If he holds true to form, Morris will predict every scenario possible with great authority, between now and November 2008.

Wow, I'm surprised. Twenty replies thus far and the Rudy in Drag photos from the perpetually-panty bunched haven't shown up yet.

Refreshing.

(No, that doesn't mean I want to see one).

We know that Rudy is for the planned murder of the most helpless, for gun grabbing and for illegal aliens rights.

How is he on property rights, being from a city that does not allow property owners to raise rents on their property?

Hunter, Rudy, McCain, Romney or Mickey Mouse.

Anyone but Hillary Clinton.

If we just get down to the real top priority -- terrorism -- Mayor Rudy seems like the best pick for this reason: NYC was once upon a time a nightmare of drug deals, prostitution, porn, high crime, etc., etc. I grew up in the surrounding areas. Then I moved far away. When I went back, years later, it was a different city. Rudy had cleaned up in one fell swoop -- without a great deal of popularity. He didn't try to pacify anyone, he didn't try for "regional diplomacy," and he didn't try negotiating. He had the criminals, the prostitutes, the drug dealers, the porn movies, the filth, dragged out by the hair and at gunpoint, and that was the end of it. He cleaned it all up. He had his own "vision" (as George W. does) but he went all the way for it -- despite popular "opinion." That's what we need now (no disrespect intended for our President). President Bush has simply tried to be a gentleman in a war dealing with animals. I don't think Rudy would have such problems. As to some of his more "non-conservative" thinking -- well, no candidates are going to be perfect. But I wouldn't call him the lesser of several hideous candidates. I'd call him the best for the war on terror -- and imho without solving that, very little else is going to matter in the long run.

I agree with you. I also recall that they gave him a tremendous reception at the convention.

disregarding the fact that it is nearly two years before the election

The race for this nomination will be over by February 5, 2008; Newt simply cannot wait until the fall to get in.

Too early to be making ANY predictions, we haven't heard the candidates speak on issues yet, nor had any debates. FGS, there could be a perfect candidate who hasn't even made the radar screens yet.

"They're writing off Newt Gingrich, for example, because he's "stuck in the low teens,"

Most people outside of the conservative base view Gingrich as being yesterday's news. He has a very solid base of conservative support, but it's hard to see him expanding too much on it. Gingrich was a fine Congressman and he's one of the top thinkers in the Conservative movement but a whole different skill set is required to be president.

Hold on to your hat, Morris predicted the out come of the elections in '06 to the very plus or minus 1%.

His individual seat predictions were also deadly accurate. He was correct on each and every one. His numbers of seats the Democrats would take was only off by two seats. He also predicted the Senate as it unfolded.

You must be right though, he doesn't know what he is talking about and should quit doing this for a living. (My quote, not yours.)

Predictable outcome for a NY based poll.

elsewhere Rudy has little chance. Although he is a leading candidate in the MSM Presidential draft. The rest of the nation isn't buying into this poll.

You are correct...only because he was mayor of NYC on 9/11..

hell of away to support your leadership remark.

Hagel is not a serious candidate. I can't imagine why he would have ANY supporters.

McCain is, but I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole.

The Toe Sucker jumps on and off bandwagons so fast, I wouldn't pay much attention to him. He's nothing but a distraction.

Is this what the Republican party is coming to? Has the party moved so far left that Rudy is acceptable?

If so, I will be looking for a new party....

"If we just get down to the real top priority -- terrorism -- Mayor Rudy seems like the best pick"

He's my second choice after Romney for that reason. We've got people plotting ways to get a nuclear bomb into this country and detonate it. Those are the stakes, and any social issues pale in comparison to that threat for me at least. I can live with Rudy supporting gay rights if I think he's going to do as much as humanly possible to protect this country.
