Vanity: And now for the rest of the question: Has conservatism been defeated in America?

Posted on 02/04/2007 3:01:09 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Would you accept a gay agenda/NARAL supporting abortionist gun-grabber as your party's savior against Hillary Clinton even if it means we abandon the pro-life, pro-family, pro-freedom of religion and pro-gun planks from the party's platform? And most likely ends any prayer of ever overturning Roe vs Wade or preventing gay marriage as the law of the land? And eventually leads to permanently ending any and all mention of God or prayer in the public square? And further erodes away the right of the people to keep and bear arms?

Will preachers speaking out against the gay agenda eventually become a hate crime in America? Will it soon become the law of the land that business owners must allow cross-dressing males to wear dresses in the office or face criminal/civil penalties like they do in San Francisco? Will man-boy "love" soon be accepted by the new American liberal society?

Has the anti-God, anti-America, anti-commonsense and decency ACLU, NOW and NARAL organizations defeated conservatism?

Is conservatism dead in the Republican Party?

Is the conservative movement dead in America?

Is God dead to Americans?

Thank you Jim for voicing the concern many of us have over the direction the GOP seems to be heading.

I'd personally rather nominate Giuliani and likely defeat Hillary than nominate Gingrich or Duncan Hunter and almost 100% lose to Hillary.

For me, the war on terror takes precedence over the social issues you mentioned. And I would far, far, far, far rather have Giuliani than Hillary standing against the terrorists who want to destroy us.

God is very much alive to me, and I want to keep it that way. He holds my future, and without him, I won't one. ;o)

Unfortunately, we have allowed ourselves to be placed in the position of having to vote for the "lesser of two evils" in the last two Presidential elections, and look what we've got in Washington. There are those on FR who won't even back a conservative in the primary, even though they profess to be Christian conservatives. THAT speaks volumes as to why we are in the mess we're in with the GOP.

Too many times we went ahead and voted for RINOS. This last election is the first time that the voters threw some of the RINOS out of office, but now those who support RINOS are ready to shoot down conservatives to put another one in office. Each time that happens, we lose more and more of our freedom/rights, and it's going to be more difficult to kick them out of the Party.

I'm afraid we have passed the point of no return. IF/when they pass amnesty/shamnesty or whatever they want to call it, it's all over for conservatives because ALL of the illegals have been signed up as liberals and told how evil the Republicans are. Once that happens, it's over because there will be so many of them, plus their families, voting as DemonRATS that no Republican will win an election again.

Unfortunately, satellite radio will bite the dust with AM and FM as far as conservative talk radio is concerned. The "Fairness Doctrine" the Democrats are proposing is going to put them out of business too - or at least turn them into non-controversial sports and music radio. Shortwave included also unless it originates from some other country. The Dems are no different than Hugo. They will stand for NO competition.

You nailed it!

The only thing that could be added, is that we as a party, and as a nation are sick for a lack of statesmen. Not politicians, Statesmen.

and thank you Jim, for this forum, and especially for this thread.

"Do you believe conservatives would support Newt?"

Yes, or Hunter and a number of others that wouldn't force them to throw away their values to vote for them.

Rush's support of W has HARDLY been non-wavering. Have you ever once listened to him when the discussion was fiscal responsibility or immigration? Or were you too busy thinking of other ways to trash Rush?

'Would Reagan have been successful without grassroots movement....'

That's exactly what we need....and, think Newt is trying to push this. But, even with those who are part of political clubs, too often, people just talk ...they won't act. They come out....with coaxing...to work during campaign/election season and then they go back to sleep. Makes me crazy. Our country is at stake! Schools have programs on same sex marriages but don't teach American history or don't focus on essentials...math, English. Why aren't people flooding their Reps with calls to demand English be our Official language and anyone who wants to be a citizen MUST learn English. Imagine how much money we could save if ballots, drivers manuals etc were not printed in multiple languages! Why aren't the American people taking a stand?

No, no, no, no, probably, likely, yes, no, yes, no.

Conservatism is alive and well in America. It's just that real conservatives have no party. Someday, when the whole ridiculous show that is modern politics falls apart, a true conservative movement will arise. But things are going to get worse before that point comes.

Our goal as conservatives is not to seek power by political or military means; that is the liberals' game. Our goal is to conserve: to protect and preserve Western culture, values, and knowledge, to conserve the air, water, and soil, to promote the Judeo-Christian ethic and guard the dignity of the individual human life. Our duty is to create and guard our families, teach our children the Western way, and to lay the spiritual, moral, and (in time) institutional foundation for a revived Christendom.

Things will come to a head, sooner or later. The twin gods of Liberty and Reason are no substitute for the one and true God; self-sovereignty does not and cannot work as the basis for a global polity; and usury will always fail as the basis of economic activity. The gods of the copybook headings cannot be held at bay forever. One day our race's centuries-long Revolution will totter and fall from its own fatal weaknesses. Our job is to be there to sweep away the debris and restore a just and sturdy order to the world.

Yeah, I know what kind of people rudy would appoint to the court. His record and his own words BEFORE he was running for president show exactly what he thinks.

Say you have two candidate. One is anti-abortion, anti-homosexual marriage but is pro-big government and supports government entitlements like the prescription drug program and tax vouchers for private schools. The other one is pro-choice, believes gay-marriage was best left to the states, but offeres real details on how they would shrink government and cut spending, balance the budget and reduce taxes? Which do you support.

Newt to the rescue, as he did in 1994?

I was a big Newt fan in 1984 when I read "High Frontier." But his actions in his personal life have left me cold. Adultery cannot be condoned in my book.

That must be why the mainstream media themselves monitor Drudge continuously.

Regarding reliable media, it was the "Star" that broke the Gennifer Flowers story, not the MSM.

It was Free Republic and Little Green Footballs that exposed Rathergate not the MSM.

It was bloggers who exposed the MSM parading terrorist actors around in Iraq pretending to be victims.
