Vanity: And now for the rest of the question: Has conservatism been defeated in America?

Posted on 02/04/2007 3:01:09 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Would you accept a gay agenda/NARAL supporting abortionist gun-grabber as your party's savior against Hillary Clinton even if it means we abandon the pro-life, pro-family, pro-freedom of religion and pro-gun planks from the party's platform? And most likely ends any prayer of ever overturning Roe vs Wade or preventing gay marriage as the law of the land? And eventually leads to permanently ending any and all mention of God or prayer in the public square? And further erodes away the right of the people to keep and bear arms?

Will preachers speaking out against the gay agenda eventually become a hate crime in America? Will it soon become the law of the land that business owners must allow cross-dressing males to wear dresses in the office or face criminal/civil penalties like they do in San Francisco? Will man-boy "love" soon be accepted by the new American liberal society?

Has the anti-God, anti-America, anti-commonsense and decency ACLU, NOW and NARAL organizations defeated conservatism?

Is conservatism dead in the Republican Party?

Is the conservative movement dead in America?

Is God dead to Americans?

He's A RINO. WHY VOTE FOR A RINO, when you can get the real thing - a real democrat who's not afraid to say s/he is a democrat? Then, when they screw up, at least the blame will go to the demcrats!

We are battling the children of the '60s that have no qualms about lying and cheating to get their goals. The problem we have it that we try to be ethical.

It's not just being ethical. Everytime there is a Democratic scandal, The GOP just walks away. Instead of "remember the Alamo" our cry needs to be "remember Sandy Berger".

Newt's a good guy, he did GREAT with the Contract With America, proving that Conservatism DOES WORK!!!....but he carries too much "baggage" which the press will use AGAINST him.

Bless their hearts....

Imagine how bleak the picture looked in the 50s. Communism was taking over half of the planet and infiltrating the US government at the highest levels. Our leaders were too naive, or spineless, to do anything about it.

Yet we did overcome.

Sort of. The government is still full of Communists.

I'm NOT defending this current crop of idiots, but you have lying and cheating people in all age ranges. Careful with whom you lay the blame.

Every conservative has too much baggage. If it doesn't exsist, the press, etal, will manufacture some. We need to learn to counter attack, and attack hard. Instead of surrendering to a charge, unite together to support our guy. Most of the time they aren't guilty, but we throw them over anyway. Makes us look weak.

By the way, I also like Duncan Hunter!

I am Republican & Conservative
We have to work in that frame.

some think Third Parties are conservative.
when Libertarian and Constitutional Party are
out in areas that resemble Left wing such as anti war
and
this from the Constitutional Party site

America is engaged in an undeclared war with an ill-defined enemy (terrorism), a war which threatens to be never ending, and which is being used to vastly expand government power, particularly that of the executive branch, at the expense of the individual liberties of the American people.

The "war on terrorism" is serving as an excuse for the government to spend beyond its income, expand the Federal bureaucracy, and socialize the nation through taxpayer bailouts of the airlines, subsidies to the giant insurance corporations, and other Federal programs.

The above reads like far left propaganda. some on FR
have bought into this third party idea thinking they are conservative but far from it. Other ideas are right out of the ACLU play book.
Some think Ron Paul is conservative when in fact he is anti war.

Do the math. When the Dems hold the majority and we run close second and can pick up those who are undecided.
That leaves Third Party insuring a Democrat victory.

Bump.

You can have strong opinions, but you can still be polite to those with opposing views (something personally ought to work on).

Better define what a conservative IS first; just the crevo and War On Drugs threads here would be enough to muddy the waters.

The Unappeasables will always gripe and moan that things are going to Gehenna on roller skates; even if they get 100% of what they ask for they won't be happy (because getting 100% only means they didn't ask for enough...).

Calling people RINOs and Traitors to the Cause and such isn't going to do anything but alienate the 40% of the people in this country that actually decide elections - let the Barking Moonbats (BM for short) on the other side do that.

Does that mean we're doomed to have a Giuliani or McCain on the top of the ticket? Not at all - but anyone who thinks a Tancredo (for example) is more electable than they are is only deluding himself.

'...but I would not vote for either (Giuliani or McCain)...'

Does it seem that this approach is what helped the Dems take over the Senate and the House? The Dems who now want a meaningless, non-binding resolution against the Iraq war simply to deride the President. The Dems who will raise taxes as soon as they can; the Dems, Sen. Clinton, who will "TAKE" Corporate profits to use ....as she sees fit?

Many RINOs, who for lack of courage will not support our conservative values, are emerging. Giuliani seems to genuinely subscribe to his positions. McCain, imho, is another story. However, both of these men appear to be staunch supporters of our troops and our efforts to defend America. Thus, sadly, it comes down to choosing the lesser of the 'evils'. And, a no-vote for the "R" running against Hillary or Obama or Edwards is A VOTE for the Dem.

The Republicans lack of unity and moral courage prior to the mid term elections turned off many voters but, we now see the results of no-votes.

Interesting idea, but how about one for "right-wing Christian conservatives" or "Bible thumping Creationists" as one freeper here has posted? This group could ally with the Republicans for the Presidency or Congressmen and Senators in Conservatively Christian-weak states, but can send their own representatives to the state legislatures and to Congress for Conservatively Christian-strong states.

Sort of similar to the CDU? in Germany with the Christian Democrats(?).

Is conservatism dead in the Republican Party?

For the foreseeable future, I believe that it is. I think that the GOP damaged itself very badly by its arrogance and selective deafness, and I think it will be a VERY long time before they control more than a popcorn machine in the Congressional lounges.

Is the conservative movement dead in America?

IMO, no. Conservatives are still aplenty in America, as we see daily on this forum. IMO, after the betrayal by the GOP, I think many of us are seeking a new party to hitch our wagon to. The GOP has proven itself unworthy of our money AND our votes. When we look at the likes of the RINO that Bush wanted to head the RNC, we see a continuation of the betrayal by the GOP when someone like Mel Martinez is crammed down our throats. The RNC should be a partnership between we Republicans and the party leadership - not a king and serf relationship.

Is God dead to Americans?

Not a chance. Not as long as there remains a breath in the lungs of a single conservative. He may not live in the hearts and minds of those who have endeavored to drive Him from our land but, as long as there is one single conservative; one single Christian or Jew still drawing breath; God will NEVER be dead in this country.
