Being a die hard Chicago Bears season ticket holder I was lucky enough to be selected through the Bears lotto to get 2 tickets for the big game.
My heart spoke more to me than the fan in me and I decided to give these tickets to some one who is more deserving to go. I contacted a friend who lost her son in Afghanistan last year and told her I wanted to send a disabled vet to the game. She put me in contact with Wounded Heroes Foundation.
They suggested I offer the tickets to Sgt Bryan Anderson of Rolling Meadows Il.
On October 23, 2005, the then 24-year old Army Spc. Bryan Anderson, was wounded by a roadside bomb while riding in his Humvee in Baghdad, Iraq. That day, Anderson became the fourth American service member to lose three limbs in the Iraq war. Anderson also suffered abdominal injuries and a collapsed lung. Recently promoted to Sergeant, Anderson has made an amazing recovery and will soon walk on artificial legs.
Bryan called me the day he found out the was going to the game to thank me. I told him I should be thanking him for all he sacrificed.
Yesterday I was able to talk to Bryan for a long period of time. I came away that Bryan is a very special person and a inspiration to all. He is going to be a good spokesman for all the wounded men & women.
Illinois Lt Gov Quinn's ( yes he is a democrat but a very good and decent man in his support of the troops) office was able to get American Airlines to donate first class tickets for Bryan.
Good for you!!
Good Job!
That is a freakin' awesome thing to do.
I play hockey with a lot of marines from Cherry Point, Lejune, etc...
A bunch of them just were deployed. Sending boxes of gear, snacks, DVDs, etc... Makes you feel great to do a little something to make things better for them.
Great Job!....This is a small (but very appreciated)sacrifice compared to what our wounded soldiers have been through.....
You're a good man!
This is about the first vanity I have seen posted in Breaking News that truly deserves to be there. Outstanding all around!
Nice job.
God Bless Bryan, and God Bless you. I'm a Steelers fan but will be rootin' for 'Da Bears.
So how come I can hardly see the screen........
I sent this link to my wife and father to let them know that it's people like skylark and what they do is the reason why I participate and donate to FR.
Thank you.
Why isn't this in Breaking News?
Bravo!
Wonderful!
Thank you Sgt. Bryan Anderson for your noble service to our country!
