LADY LAKE, Florida (CNN) -- Deadly storms swept across central Florida on Friday morning, damaging homes, toppling trees and sending trucks careening off Interstate 4, police said.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office said there were "several" fatalities in Lady Lake, where at least two mobile home parks were hit. Authorities could not say how many deaths there were.

Yes it was ! She lives about 1 1/2 hours from me, but I know it is like a million miles away! ;0)
It's possible that this was a TV error and they instead should have indicated this was Lake County, but...
No one can pay me enough to live in a mobile home that's not really "mobile" - no matter where that trailer park is. Trailer parks tend to be "tornado magnets" in Illinois too. I had a friend who lived in one in the east side of Bloomington/Normal who used to run to the Ill. State Univ. library (24 hours) at the sign of any big wind. That's not a way I want to live my life (and no, I didn't marry him - THIS was one of reasons why ;-).
You're obviously NOT one of the ones who scurry off to FLA allthewhile thinking "blissful retirement" and live in some pre-fab or otherwise cheaply/shoddily built structure.
Structure DOES matter. The ones who survive usually have a basement or underground storm shelter. Because I grew up in central ILL where we got tornado watches and warnings on a regular seasonal basis, I will ONLY live in a home that has a basement.
My parents live in one of those stucco style homes with a Spanish style roof built sturdily in the 1920's. They live in Lake Wales (Polk County) and, while they were without power for several weeks following Charley (then Frances THEN Ivan), they had no structural damage other than a broken window.
Hi,Txie,,,FOX reporting 19 dead...
Hi CM....yes, this is just really sad. I hate to see this.
Tornados are just so SUDDEN!
I am just now turning on the TV.
I hope that means that you have been sleeping...so you can get rid of your cold.
Or has the good doctor been putting you to work again???
Yep, slept 12 hours. :0)
The deer, limping off on 3 legs? I guess we're supposed to sing "Feelings" now. Yes, it's sad animals get injured .. but for pete's sake, Bill, people .. the suffering people.
Higher than that in Andrew ... the monster train .. right in the room. Ungodly.
We need the old CD air-raid warning system back,,,
I think it would help folks take cover...
So sad. Mom, dad and teenage son killed. The boy was one of triplets. 2 girls survived.
Oooh .. I responded to the mention of Nelson, and thought you were referring to his last comment on CNN...
"and the last thing we saw as the chopper lifted off was a doe with his back leg dangling, limping off on 3 legs into the woods."
OMG .. how horrible ..
I'm in the county, not the city. During a rainstorm, I doubt that I'd hear our city warning siren if I was sleeping. Thankfully, I'm scared to death of tornadoes. Been through several close calls. So, I have a scanner that screeches if there is a warning....otherwise, if it's storming, I just don't sleep!
Confirmed 19 dead per Lake County sheriff's dept. They're still looking..piles and piles of rubble...they say it will take days to find injured/dead here.
It is really stunning...just spoke with friends over in Volusia County to learn one of my favorite restaurants was leveled...so many business destroyed and over a thousand homes ruined..
"150MPH!!!; the thought terrifies me. And the strongest structures become toys in the path of the tornado."
This is simply untrue. My home was hit my winds close to 200MPH we had some damage but certainly not destroyed. We did not have power or water for a few weeks and it took forever to clean up but you can be safe in strong winds if you are prepared.
