LADY LAKE, Florida (CNN) -- Deadly storms swept across central Florida on Friday morning, damaging homes, toppling trees and sending trucks careening off Interstate 4, police said.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office said there were "several" fatalities in Lady Lake, where at least two mobile home parks were hit. Authorities could not say how many deaths there were.

This will be Bush's fault like Katrina was.

Yup. I just can't imagine being like that. I mean-- if it were me, and say back when Clinton was President and I'm standing there being interviewed in front of my demolished house after a tornado... I honestly don't think my first instinct would have been to bash Clinton. Sure, I didn't like the guy, but I think I'd have had other things on my mind at the moment.

My kids just don't even think to call me when we have tornados here...and then act surprised when I call and act relieved....ugh

Now thats what America is all about!

We once took in a snowbound UPS driver who's van skidded off the road into a snowbank when we lived in rural NJ.

Made coffee something warm to eat, while he waited to be 'rescued". Just a simple act but I swear he would have let us adopt him for some simple kindness. Needless to say we always got out packages no problem!

The first person I called on 911 was my mom, even though I was not in any danger, who knew? It's best to check in. Great amounts of anxiety can be avoided.

Where is your daughter? We have friends in the Villages and Lady Lake. I am praying for them, and your daughter.

Every year you have assorted Typhoons and Supertyphoons hitting Okinawa and Guam and people on FR unduly concerned about military family members there

And every time pretty nobody gets killed - your home construction is similar to that in Okinawa and Guam...Florida needs to start thinking of themselves as Okinawa and Guam.

Very good! We, for the most part, are pretty well prepared for weather emergencies here in Florida. Most of the complaining residents are here 4 months out of the year, live in mobile home parks and are not prepared for this. My generator, chain saws, flashlights, food, etc. are at the ready, God forbid, we need them.

Was it an old guy?

One thing (and this is based on personal experience with family members) that I think went unmentioned about the 2006 elections is the incredibly passionate hatred the elderly have developed for Bush, including a lot of people who were Reagan Democrats or even Republicans.

"We have a total emergency plan."

Good for you. We do too... Even includes plans for a small asteroid impact.

I agree. Florida is just no place for mobile homes.

And I was just looking at the Villages websites to see if they did have mobile homes also - they appear to have single family homes/villas, at least as advertised.

I am pretty familiar with the area. My sister lives one mile from one of the trailer parks that was demolished this morning. The Villages, when it was first being developed was solely mobile homes (Orange Blossom). The newer homes now being built are standard homes.

I've been on the phone with her all morning since she has no power and didn't know what was going on. She just knew that at 3:20 this morning a nasty storm rolled through. I relayed info to her from WESH2 live stream. It's a big mess up there right now.
