Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and we will try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate ,Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats
And Monthly Calendars for the House and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
They are going to burn people out with all this back to back elections
They are a turn off to the average joe
Congress has no balls
There are some left...few of them are in Congress, it seems.
On C-span 2...the House Rules committee is LIVE.
Rep. Pete Sessions said that Rep. Sam Johnson is going to put forth a resolution from the GOP side.
See post #1224
I just KNEW he would not let our soldiers down.
Whenever I have watched War Stories with Oliver North...some of the stories I hate the most are the ones about specific battles.
Battles to "take" a certain hill..or road..or whatever, and the Ollie will describe the battle, the number of times the troops would try to accomplish the mission...the number of times they would lose ground..the injuries, the calls for more troops or airstrikes...
And then, the "end" of that battle...and the telling of the number of dead and injured US troops it took...sometimes HUNDREDS or THOUSANDS....but, then Ollie would also report the number of the dead and wounded from the enemy's side...and the number was always much higher.
However, these are rarely happy stories...because unfortunately, most of the time, Ollie will end the segment my saying that days, weeks, months later....the enemy returned and overtook the site...or even, the Americans for whatever reason, would just leave it...and the enemy would move in.
That always breaks my heart...thinking of the dead and their families...and how it makes them feel, to know that that battle meant so "little" in the long run.
I am hearing these Congresscritters and MSM saying things like ---- we LOVE the troops...but the way we want to prove it is to bring them home...keep them safe....
My thoughts immediately go to what the families of the already dead in Iraq...and the troops that have watched a buddy get killed would end up thinking...
THEN, I will think of how OBL, Nutjob, Chavez, Putin, Assad, Muneiyah(sp)...and others will feel...TRIUMPHANT.
This hearing is just sickening....and I when I read that thing I posted today..about how the House members are fighting for "prime time" slots to say their five minutes of debate...it made me very angry and sick.
sorry about this post...I was just thinking this while cleaning the kitchen...and I don't have anyone else to talk to about this.
My heart was with you all the way through the post.
Bet your kitchen is REALLY, REALLY clean.
Lordy...Ike Skelton must think he is going for an Oscar with that over acting job!!!
That Louise Slaughter said that bringing the troops home, would keep them safe, and HELP OUR NATIONAL SECURITY.
Oh, dear, Walter Jones...that despicable NC rep. I wish he would just switch to DEM...
LOL...I even MOPPED the floor!!
Have you been watching this Rules committee hearing??
No, I'm a 24 junkie.
It's my only relief :)
Sorry...I will leave you alone then!!
LOL

Morning, sleuthie :)
Clinton Campaign Event
Clinton (Hillary) Presidential Campaign
Hillary Rodham Clinton , D-NY
I turned this on for a bit. Her machine is going to have to win this for her. She is entirely uninspiring.
She just said al-Qaida was not in Iraq before we went there. LIAR.
Good Morning ALL!!!
I am watching my favorite House member, Patrick McHenry, call this "debate" a temper tantrum by the dems.
LOL
I just told someone on another thread...that what will happen today is the dems will be alternately lying about what has happened....and blaming Pres. Bush for lying about stuff that he didn't lie about.
I think the House is going to be one to watch today.
I don't know if you watched Hannity's new TV show on Sunday night or not...
But, at the first of the show, he had a genius segment where he showed actual footage of Hillary's speech in the Senate, right before the vote to go into Iraq...
After she would give a STRONG statement of Saddam's danger to us..and all of the WMDs and such...he would show her on the Senate floor last week, saying that she NEVER gave permission for the war..never believed the POTUS.
This kept going back and forth 4-5 times...it was absolutely DEAD ON PROOF of Hillary's hypocrisy regarding this war.
The funny part was...she was wearing almost the exact same outfit 5 years apart...LOL
I've got that on now - Kooky Dennis up saying Bush is working on the next war .. with Iran
I think Hannity may just be serious about his "Stop Hillary Express."
I certainly hope he is, and that was a great beginning.
I think I will watch the House for a bit. Could be amusing.
