A lot of folks buy prepaid phones like trackphones and resell them in their stores.. I know folks who buy a bunch at Wal Mart & then turn around and sell them at gas stations.. nothing wrong with that..

Goodness. This means they may actually have access to our cellular network.

Thanks for the report and your vigilance.

All MS freepers be on the lookout and pay attention. MS Freeper? Oh no! I hope it's not the Beta version.

One application for these phones is to use them to remotely set off explosives. This is what has been done in Iraq with IED's, as has been described in the news.

The reason they do this is because Tracfone sells their phones at below cost in order to get people to buy prepaid airtime.
If you have a cell phone you don't like, you can buy a Tracfone at below cost, swap out the SIM card from your old phone, and you have a new cell phone hooked up to your old service.
People who own cell phone businesses can do the same thing and increase their profit margins.
It's bad for Tracfone when they do this, but it's not illegal and the only way it could have anything to do with terrorism is if they use the profit to fund it.

Sadly there are a number of freepers who feel vigilance and attention to these threats are one big joke.
They feel anybody seeing blinking lights, wires, and flashlight batteries is overreacting. They should *know* that bombs don't look like that.
I went over to DU and their discussion was much less hostile and nasty.

Thanks for paying attention. Don't let the smart alecks on this thread make you feel bad.

I suggest you pay no attention to the people posting on this thread who are treating this situation just a little too lightly for my taste.
Nobody thought anything about a certain group of Middle Eastern men taking 'flying lessons' either, not until they put those planes into the Trade Towers.
In the right hands, a cell phone can be just as dangerous as fertilizer, or a gun.
Thanks for keeping your eyes open. Some people should learn to keep their mouths shut tho.

How did they know they were Middle Eastern?
Well, they weren't black, and they weren't rednecks. ;^)

I've heard unconfirmed reports of Middle Eastern men buying televisions in Austin and there was a wire report earlier than some strange looking men bought an electric toothbrush and four microwave ovens in New York last night.
Mulder & Skully are on the case...
