One of the more disturbing of the more than a dozen images obtained by KTVI appears to show Hornbeck with his face shrouded in a red bandanna pointing a gun at the camera. Investigators say the images show a "different side" of Hornbeck, and they hope that they will help them piece together the teen's puzzling disappearance.

I believe he was 11 years old at the time he was kidnapped. He was raised by a pervert. What do people expect to see as a result? A sweet little Choir boy? I think this stuff is more a result of the kidnapping and sick upbringing by Devlin, than it is a proof of Shawn wanting the fate he was dealt.
This is hilarious. When the subject is 'shocking photos' you expect to hear about shocking photos, not a kid with a bandana around his face and a gun. There's a whole lot more to this story, but I really am beginning to think it was not about sex.
PING
whatever! Shawn Hornbeck was a victim and for you to say otherwise after the Sheriff and DA clearly said he was is pathetic!
Yeah, they are. But bored teens, with access to a camera, have been known to take bizzare pictures. I imagine Shawn was pretty bored sitting around while his captor was at work.
If so, it is something he developed as a defense mechanism after being held captive by a pedophile for 4 years.
If he was, so what. The kid's life has been under the control of the kidnapper for 5 years.
No matter what Sean is, does, or says, he was taken from his home by a kidnapper. He is only a child whose life has been taken over by someone else.
He probably knew exactly what would happen to him if he went home - everyone would be in his face asking about "why", all of his actions would come to light and he would be judged.
Give him a break - he needs it.
They aren't, but reporters are often pigs. They'll wallow in the mud as long as they can.
Why does that matter? Put yourself in his place. Don't expect a young kidnapped boy to go against the wishes of the kidnapper - especially seeing that he failed to take action to get away himself.
This is probably his adjustment to his environment - just go along.
Kids used to dress up as Cowboys and Indians, or football and baseball players.
Nothing unusual about these photos today, this is how "wiggers" play dress up.
Right. And we see all the requests for prayers for his healing as probably those same people join in insuring that the young man is "judged" for his 5 years as a victim.
Maybe we should do a little of that helping him heal ourselves instead of just politely ordering God to do it.
You are right. We can only imagine 5 years from now what the result would have been to Ben Ownby. He was captive for 4 days.
Maybe people see Shawn as "tainted" and have a hard time imagining that the same could have ever happened if it was them. It is hard to put yourself in that situation and believe that you would let this happen to you. Just a possible explanation for people who try to make this kid a willing complier.
Sure agree that this kid is a hustler. MSM should stop calling him a captive. He could have bolted any time he wanted.
Then he'd have to go to school and put the iPod down for a few hours.
Glad they rescued the other boy.
I can't imagine how messed up his head is after his parents signed him onto the publicity tour within 48 hours of his return.
There is evidence being leaked as we speak that the photos were leaked from the defense team. Motives: to taint the jury pool, to view the child victim in a bad light. MO of defense team: Share a photo, leave the context and text out. Makes weak minds come to the defense of the defendent. This ploy is not a new trick. In every high profile case we have seen it.
FOX has sooooo jumped the shark.
"No big deal, not really newsworthy."
Except that the kid in the was supposedly held captive for over 4 years.
"you see those on the 'net all the time"
You might see them since you frequent MySpace, but most adults don't.
