Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is the favourite Republican United States presidential contender for voters in the Garden State, according to a poll by the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. 48 per cent of respondents in New Jersey would vote for Giuliani in a head-to-head contest against Democratic New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
In other match-ups, Rodham Clinton holds a one-point edge over Arizona senator John McCain, and a 24-point advantage over former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney. McCain leads former North Carolina senator John Edwards by six points, and Illinois senator Barack Obama by three points.
In 2004, Democratic nominee John Kerry carried New Jerseys 15 electoral votes, with 53 per cent of the vote. No Republican has won the Garden State since George H. Bush in 1988.
Incumbent George W. Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The next United States presidential election is scheduled for November 2008.

Like I said, no evacuation plan several years after the first attack...
Standard first responder protocols not followed...
NO LEADERSHIP!
(I have extensive professional experience in such endeavors.)
Rudy > Shrillery
ROFLOL! See we share a common opinion of McCain!
If Mecca is gone, no Islam...
Educate yourself...
I think it is perfect strategy. Put a former Governor from a total red state (Bush won every county) on the ticket with Rudy -- Gov Keating is the perfect running mate IMHO!
you hit on an important theme there - we do have alot of good conservatives in the republican party, but they aren't vocal enough, they haven't been "out there" developing a consistent message, and developing the communications skills to sway people.
our conservative offerings for 2008 are sparse, and time has run out to take some "unknown" and build them into a presidential candidate, who can actually have a chance to win.
I just don't think this country can survive 8 years of Hillary and Bill Clinton back in the white house. so this mantra of "let's give it to a Dem before we give it to a RINO" fails me, I can't sign up for that.
The president can't change America's culture; if that was so, Reagan would have done it and he didn't.
When Rudy was mayor, he went after the Brooklyn Museum, tooth and nail, for highlighting, at a "special show" a "painting" of the Virgin Mary, that was smeared in cow dung and had cut out pictures, from hard core porn magazines, of female genitalia, used as a frame within the frame.
That's a heck of a lot MORE than any president has ever done about FILTH passed off as "art"!
Gov Keating got almost all the Baptist here and remember he was the one that was heading the pedofile scandal investigation until the Catholic Church fired him. He also stood up to the pope on the death penalty.
Gov Keating had support from all the conservative churches here -- they liked him better then one of his priests!
have you ever been in the world trade center?
LOL
Well, brace yourself......I hate to break it to you....but the GOP Leadership has already "decided" that McCain is their boy for '08 and have also already mapped out the strategy to use to "make it happen."
While Newt was in DC on Saturday- announcing that he would "announce" his decision to run or not in September....his legal counsel- Randy Evans (who also is Hastert's attorney and the GA state GOP legal counsel and one of McCain's attorneys) was pitching the '08 election to me over breakfast......
I will be writing about all this later....but I am waiting on something in particular before I can really, uhm.....load the gun, per se'.....
I don't think religion will play into it! Rudy will play up I am personally against abortion and it is up to the Courts and Keating will agree! Both law and order types.
Do YOU think that Tancredo, Ron Paul, Huckabee, Brownback, and/or Hunter can win the primary, as well as beating Hillary?
Right. Remove Mecca and Islamists become pacifists. Get real.
I'm quite ok with making Mecca Glass....that won't do anything about Islam. To make peace on earth, there has to be somewhere north of a half a billion Muslims killed. I figure if you get more than half the rest should fall in line. I am ok with all of them eating a bullet, but that is a hard sell.
When I was little, my grandmother used to tell me stories about what the 42nd St. area had once been like. I used to think that it could not and would NOT ever be reclaimed. Then came Rudy Giuliani!
The Republican voters need to ask themselves why would the media that hates and despises everything that pertains to Republicans, continue non stop to push the candatesy of John Mc Cain and Rudy.
Having no plan after you have been attacked once already in the same place is just plain negligent...

Brooklyn Museum Art Controversy
In 1999 Giuliani threatened to cut off city funding for the Brooklyn Museum if the museum did not remove a number of works in an exhibit entitled Sensation: Young British Artists from the Saatchi Collection. One work in particular, The Holy Virgin Mary by Turner Prize winning-artist Chris Ofili (a Catholic himself), featured the Virgin Mary next to elephant dung and female genitalia pictures. It was targeted as being offensive to some in the Christian community in New York, leading the artist to comment that "This is all about control."
