Jan 31, 2007 About 98 percent of Harley's nearly 2,800 unionized workers have voted to strike. The contract expires at 12:01 a.m. Friday, and picketing will begin at that time, union representatives said.
Discussions on the proposed labor contract began at 9 a.m. today in the Toyota Arena at the York Expo Center, where the members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 175 met.

It did for me at the time. But that was some time ago (1993). We now have a Dem Governor and things could have changed.

thank you!!
I agree with many things stated on this thread. I really do.
And I dislike the big unions as much as the next one on here. I dislike they break the law and funnel money to liberal pols.
Perhaps the workers should try to reclaim their unions and get them back to what they should be.

That's not what was meant by contributing. Sure, customers contribute by buying the product, and in return they get exactly what they bought. Employees contribute by working, and in return they get what they agreed to: wages. Investors and entrepreneurs contribute by building and financing the company, and in return they get the company's equity and profits.
It's as unreasonable to say employees deserve a share of the company's profits as it is to say customers deserve a share of those profits.
To: HOTTIEBOY
Nope. They are too heavy to make it out the door. You know, I do my absolute best to respect everyone's ride, but you guys make it so difficult. I have to actually remind myself on the road that not every guy/chic on a Japanese motorcycle hates everyone on a Harley. It must be some internet phenomenon, because in the real world (at least mine) riders of varied makes seem to get along.

"I'll grant there have been issues w/ some unions throughout history. But, when a company is making mega money, is it a bad thing that workers get a stake in it? "
Buy HD shares like everyone else.
To: 66-442hot
But, when a company is making mega money, is it a bad thing that workers get a stake in it? Do you think the employees would be willing to work for free in lean times?
My dad owned his own business. He made many many millions when things finally got good, but he had lean years when my enlisted Coastie paycheck was way more than he brought in. You think he union guys would go to work free? If they deserve a share a stake in the good, they should be willing to suck up the bad, and you know damnwell that would NEVER happen.

The old right to work for less routine and even a suggestion to open a plant in China usually pops
If you knew anything about right to work laws, you'd realize how completely ignorant that statement is.
At least the Pinkertons haven't yet been suggested but the day is young and the hatred is as limitless as the liberals display.
What a great idea, lets call in the Pinkertons, I really love that idea, ...Brilliant!!!

LOL. I sure don't hate everyone on a harley, even if a lot of themlook like bigtime drug addicts. Some are pretty decent people, but the ones who go for the wanna-be badass look are a joke, and make me laugh.

melas, you know that the biggest problem with harley is that so many people, especially ones who'll never be able to afford even a USED one, step up and say "harley is the best- and [insert import bike insult here] sucks!"
harley's biggest asset is image. 2d is retail based on image.
