Angleton man tied to Myspace video of cat mauling (Another pit bull owner, shows no remorse)

ANGLETON — A 17-year-old Angleton man has been charged with cruelty to animals after he allegedly tied up a stray cat and let the pit bull he got for his birthday tear the cat apart while he videotaped the incident.

The video ended up on the popular Web site MySpace after he gave the video to friends, but it was quickly yanked.

Paul Miguel will probably be booked today, Angleton police detective Sgt. Kirk Coleman said.

The dog, a brown and white female named Brook, was seized by agents from the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Coleman said. A hearing is scheduled for Feb. 8 to see whether the dog will be taken from Miguel.

"He has no remorse," Coleman said of Miguel, "He calmly sat and told us that he doesn't like cats.

"He said he likes to take videos and send them to his friends."

The dog was a birthday present for Miguel, who turned 17 on Jan. 8. The incident with the cat took place Thursday, Coleman said.

Angleton police became aware of the incident after getting calls from people who saw the video on the Internet, Coleman said. MySpace has since pulled the video from the Web site.

The cat was a stray that Miguel found in his neighborhood, Coleman said. He said the video shows the dog dismembering the animal.

If convicted of the cruelty charge, Miguel faces up to two years in state jail.

What is wrong with people like this. Absolutely sick.

He just turned 17.

He will graduate to people soon if he isn't put away.

Until they stop the abortuary slaughters, I have some compassion for animal cruelty, but I just can't get serious about it.

You can't walk and chew gum at the same time? You should be sickened by both and take both seriously.

It's an ugly crime, but it is only an animal. That being said he does need to spend a little time in jail for this, or maybe a few hundred hours of community service in the pound taking care of the dogs and cats.
___

It's only an animal?

okay...well then, lets address the MINDSET OF A HUMAN who can do this sort of thing for PLEASURE.

He's sick.
This should be an indication of what he would do to YOU if you crossed his path in the wrong way.

This person is not civilized and frankly anyone who can brush this off probably is not too civilized either.

This makes no sense.

There was a thread on here awhile back about some guy who tortured& killed a stray dog , who was unapologetic and did do time in jail.

Shortly after he got out, he was doing his job mowing lawns with tractor and was off of it getting something out of its way. The tractor went into gear and the guy was run over and torn to shreds by the mower. What goes around comes around.

"The dog will suffer for the owners stupidity."

It will be euthanized if it already hasn't been.

This guy will be burned at the stake for his lack of phoney remorse. Look son, this is not how the game is played. You need to be contrite. Contrition absolves you of any responsibity because it makes the press feel good. Either that or you need to remind the press this is a problem white people have with your kind. oh wait, this isn't Tank Johnson. Wrong thread.

Great point

If he had threatened the President or gotten his gf pregnant or killed someone while robbing a liquor store, he would be a 17 year-old boy. But since he killed a cat, he is a 17 year-old man.

Can't you get serious about both? I sure can.

Cruelty is cruelty no matter how you slice it.

Yes, I CAN walk and chew gum. My outrage is mainly for humans that are pulled apart limb by limb. Until we show MORE concern for humans (3,300 each day), I'll reserve my outrage for a horse stuck in water or a beached whale.

This sort of thread in FR usually has one or two posts from people who express surprise that others are so concerned about animal abuse when unborn babies or other people are dying, but it's worth noting that people who torment or kill animals like this often move on from the animal kingdom to do the same to human beings.

Anyone who could do this to a stray cat for no reason other than his own entertainment is a truly frightening person - totally devoid of empathy.

Yes, it's ONLY an animal. Despite memtic brainwashing by PETA, animals are not sentient creatures and are generally used for food or are at the disposal of humans. Are you going to try to debate for their rights?

okay...well then, lets address the MINDSET OF A HUMAN who can do this sort of thing for PLEASURE.

Well, if you want to go that route there are people that still hunt with dogs. Are they the same? How about duck hunters using dogs to retrieve ducks? Think the ducks are completely dead when the dogs get them?

Or is it just the cute animals that get defended?

Whether or not you like cats is irrelevant. That stray could still belong to someone in that neighborhood. How sick can someone be to watch the suffering of a helpless animal?

This type of behavior is on the rise, influenced by gang initiations, etc. Studies have shown that when little empathy or compassion is shown for anything helpless (animals, children, etc) or no remorse, that the society has deteriorated to very low levels.

Yep, you sure made your point. Then again, Humans are also 'only' animals when it comes down to it.

So, you harden your heart to animals....because others harden their hearts to babies. Yeah, that makes sense.
