Around the country, ideas that originated on the hard right or in the fevered imaginations of conspiracy theorists are finding their way into the mainstream. In a number of cases, these ideas have become commonplace in American minds.

Are black people inherently less intelligent and more prone to criminality than whites? Are Catholics incapable of self-government? Did the Civil Rights Act of 1964 strip Americans of their freedoms? Does a tiny cabal of Jewish families control international banking? Do interracial relationships have the effect of weakening both races? Are there natural ruling elites who should be governing society?

Morris Dees - the founder of the Southern Poverty Law center came to the public attention some time ago by taking high profile civil rights cases pro-bono. While many of the early cases needed to be tried (lynchings, etc.) Dees became very rich by taking donations that were far and above money he needed to try cases and most of it went into his pocket. He has recently taken to labeling any Conservative group with a web presence as hate groups or racists spreading lies. If you look at this list, no only will you find David Horowitz listed but also a plethora of legitimate economic thinks thanks and social policy groups. Not mentioned on this site is the fact Dee's ex wife sued him in civil court for acts of pedophilia against there step daughter. Dees issued cease and desist orders to anyone who wrote about this and as a result if you google Dees and pedophilia, you will find that if you click on the links that come up that all the pages have been removed.

Kinda like labeling anyone who doesn't agree with global warming as "global warming deniers" and insisting they be silenced. It's the lefts favorite tactic. Hang a label on you then insist your opinion is irrelevant based on the label. That way they don't have to worry about arguing facts.

Take the criminality of blacks. I don't see an inherent criminality argument being made, but I do see a cultural one. Nationwide, blacks commit 64% of violent crime, yet comprise only 12% of the population (this percentage may have declined with the rise of gangster culture in some other elements of society).

Most of that is black on black crime, but this turkey isn't even going to mention that in 1990, there were 10 cases of white on black rape but 9,405 cases of black on white rape. If you want to bring up racism, there's a LOGICAL point to start.

But if this guy had his way, you'd be a racist to bring up those statistics, and just downright evil to apply ANY sort of logic to them.

Look at the flack Bill Cosby is taking. But someone needs to say something. If this Chip guy had his way, saying anything would make you a hate monger of the worst sort.

I don't doubt it, but he was actually born to wealth. His "pro-bono" work was no sacrifice, his family afforded him to be a left-wing activist back to his days on the McGovern campaign.

This is a big beef of mine as well. Take hate crime laws - who are they supposed to protect? I would wager not white folks however, while most violent crime is intra-racial, white on black crime is a lot more rare than black on white crime. Of course, it is rare for hate crime statutes to be invoked against minority criminals. It is taboo to talk about black crime of course which is a part of the reason nothing has really been done to address. Sometimes the truth is ugly but it is always better than lies told to pander to any given group.

The best source is from the FBI web site. They break down certain classes of crime by race. They also have a victimology survey where they list the color of a perpetrator as reported by the victim regardless of whether an arrest is made. The studies correlate almost one to one which negates the arguments from the left about blacks being more likely to be sent to prison.
