A friend of mine was at a fundraiser for Rudy Giuliani in Los Angeles last night. His walkaway thought: [Rudy] might have a tough time in the primary but he will crush in the general.
Said friend says of last night: I have to tell you the man is very impressive. When he talks about the war on terror he does so more clearly than anyone I have heard including the President. He doesn't bash the President ever and this was LA where he could really get away with it.
Rudy did an immigration bit that was to the right of everyone else except maybe Tancredo. He talked about immigration in terms of national security. He said we needed to revamp our entire system so that we can get good people. He also said that if the twelve million already here expected to get any type of citizenship they would have to prove that they could read, write, and speak English.
The fundraiser was sponsored by Bill Simon (who worked with Rudy in the U.S. Attorneys office). My friend, who is the rare pro-life, Hollywood hawk, left wondering if he could support Rudy if it came to that. We all know where Rudy is on abortion but my question is what does he think of Judges Roberts and Alito? If he says that he would appoint judges of like mind then I think he can skate on the abortion issue because it does come down to the judges. It was Hollywood though so no one asked about any social issues.
If people around here would work as hard to trash democrats as they work to trash Rudy we'd walk back into the the WH in 2008 with anybody we ran.
I agree, but I'm trying to conserve words by calling him a RINO.
It's short and to the point.
They'll thunder at the lectern, but any kind of amnesty that is written into law will minimal, risible requirements.
English requirements for amnesty are like limiting abortion to the "health" of the Mother. It basically means everybody.
So, does it matter to you that he's lying and covering up his record?

First things first.
Oops. I didn't see which post you replied to. In this post I posted a Party Platform plank about illegal immigration. I asked if that was Giuliani's position. You answered that "if he talks like the above stated, he'll garner votes." Were you saying that because Giuliani believes in and supports that party plank?
You realize that the owner of this forum is a "Keyester", right?
"While John McCain and Mitt Romney discuss comprehensive solutions, Rudy is ready to do what it takes to prevent individuals from illegally entering the United States. During his recent visit to Minnesota, Rudy laid out his immigration plan, which begins with sealing the borders and also involves ensuring that immigrants learn English so that they can be better assimilated into American culture. As such, Rudy is to the right of President Bush on this issue."
The Illegal-Alien Crime Wave (long, but timely as our pols pander)
Immigration politics have similarly harmed New York. Former mayor Rudolph Giuliani sued all the way up to the Supreme Court to defend the citys sanctuary policy against a 1996 federal law decreeing that cities could not prohibit their employees from cooperating with the INS. Oh yeah? said Giuliani; just watch me. The INS, he claimed, with what turned out to be grotesque irony, only aims to terrorize people. Though he lost in court, he remained defiant to the end. On September 5, 2001, his handpicked charter-revision committee ruled that New York could still require that its employees keep immigration information confidential to preserve trust between immigrants and government. Six days later, several visa-overstayers participated in the most devastating attack on the city and the country in history.
New York conveniently forgot the 1996 federal ban on sanctuary laws until a gang of five Mexicansfour of them illegalabducted and brutally raped a 42-year-old mother of two near some railroad tracks in Queens. The NYPD had already arrested three of the illegal aliens numerous times for such crimes as assault, attempted robbery, criminal trespass, illegal gun possession, and drug offenses. The department had never notified the INS.
Wrong!!
That's what Rudy will say to get you to vote for him. Rudy's history shows what Rudy will really do; he's pro illegal.
I like Rudy. I disagree with him on some things, but I could live with him. If he comes out strong against illegal aliens and for border security, that would earn him some points. It would bury McCain.
I know it; this place sounds more and more like DU every day.
Welcome to the Republican Primary. And if Rudy wasn't aligned almost completely with the Democrat Party Platform, then maybe he wouldn't be trashed by Republican conservatives.
Welcome back Marine Inspector!!!! Long time, no see.... It's good to see you back.
Dittoes to that! Welcome back, big guy!
Oh, about the same. Fighting creeping liberalism. I've never had to deal with kudzu, but I think it must be a similar experience.
This post is a reflection of what everyone who meets Rudy and hears him speak thinks. They are dazzled, and see the strength Rudy brings to the table. If Rudy is the one who can keep Hillary and her HINO from taking over our country, so be it; he has my vote.
Is it too much to ask that people who post the same cut and paste over and over again come up with an original thought or opinion?
Clogging up the site with spam is not productive. It does nothing to promote your opinion or promote discussion. It makes one think you don't have an original though or opinion in your head.
You need to post more. I'll be looking out for you.
