Why should they be ashamed and apologetic?

Sounds like these folks have some mighty large chips on their shoulders.

We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land,"

Well then, I guess you cannot be President.

"Trinity United Church of Christ adopted the Black Value System written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee chaired by Vallmer Jordan in 1981."

Many of us adopted a value system written down somewhat earlier, on stone tablets...

But howcome, if Africa is the "cradle of civilization," it took them until 1981 to adopt a "value system?"

Their Black Value System seems at odds with Galatians 3:26-28:

You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,
for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.

Whaaaa???? Since they claim to be Christian, then where does Jesus fit into their picture? I see no mention of Him at all in their blatantly racist creed.

Trinity United Church of Christ adopted the Black Value System written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee chaired by Vallmer Jordan in 1981. We believe in the following 12 precepts and covenantal statements. These Black Ethics must be taught and exemplified in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They must reflect on the following concepts...Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System...

Can you just hear the new Pledge of Allegiance?

I Pledge allegiance to the all Black leadership
who espouse and embrace the Black Value System
And to the tin-pot dictatorship on which they stand,
One nation, under Barak Hussein Obama...

Look at what they say on their "mission statement" page:

".....to become agents of change for God who is not pleased with America’s economic mal-distribution!"

So now God is displeased with our non-distribution of wealth? And who told them that? I wonder?

"true to our native land"

Shows what I know. I sang this song in church on the Sunday before MLK day and presumed it meant the United States of America. After all, by the time it was written (1899, I looked it up), both the authors and any person singing it was most likely born in the United States.

Replace Obama with an all-white candidate and change all the instances of the word "black" on this webpage to "white" and we have a candidate that couldn't get elected dogcatcher in any community in America.

We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land,"

and there is no way on God's green earth we would ever consider moving there.

I checked out the web site. Being a member of my church's choir, I checked out the Music ministry tab. Here's what I found for the Men's Chorus:

The Lord has blessed us with another exciting year for the Men's Chorus, and can you believe we are celebrating our 23rd year as strong African American men who are "Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian." It has been an awesome journey as we strive together as One Voice, One Choir.

I wonder - if I decided to join this church, would I be allowed to join the choir? Would they change any of the wording on their web page?

This a UCC church. They haven't been a Bible-believing denomination for the past 50 years.

The United Church of Christ also has a popular reverend. His name is Barry Lynn who is also the Executive Director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State.

Not surprising. UCC is way out in left field, has been for a long time.

What's troubling is people like Rick Warren (purportedly conservative?!) giving Obama such a good report and a platform at his church. I can't believe some 'conservative' people even on this forum can't see through Rick Warren's falsehood YET.
