We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.
Trinity United Church of Christ adopted the Black Value System written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee chaired by Vallmer Jordan in 1981. We believe in the following 12 precepts and covenantal statements. These Black Ethics must be taught and exemplified in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They must reflect on the following concepts:
Commitment to God Commitment to the Black Community Commitment to the Black Family Dedication to the Pursuit of Education Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence Adherence to the Black Work Ethic Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect Disavowal of the Pursuit of "Middleclassness" Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the Black Community Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System. The Pastor as well as the membership of Trinity United Church of Christ is committed to a 10-point Vision:
A congregation committed to ADORATION. A congregation preaching SALVATION. A congregation actively seeking RECONCILIATION. A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA. A congregation committed to BIBLICAL EDUCATION. A congregation committed to CULTURAL EDUCATION. A congregation committed to the HISTORICAL EDUCATION OF AFRICAN PEOPLE IN DIASPORA. A congregation committed to LIBERATION. A congregation committed to RESTORATION. A congregation working towards ECONOMIC PARITY.
Why should they be ashamed and apologetic?
Sounds like these folks have some mighty large chips on their shoulders.
Should read Presidential Candidate.
Well then, I guess you cannot be President.
Many of us adopted a value system written down somewhat earlier, on stone tablets...
But howcome, if Africa is the "cradle of civilization," it took them until 1981 to adopt a "value system?"
You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,
for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
The White Value System written by the Senator Byrd Recognition Committee
Commitment to God
Commitment to the White Community
Commitment to the White Family
Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence
Adherence to the White Work Ethic
Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect
Disavowal of the Pursuit of "Middleclassness"
Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the White Community
Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting White Institutions
Pledge allegiance to all White leadership who espouse and embrace the White Value System
Personal commitment to embracement of the White Value System.
Who knows? BTW, I'm not exactly sure what the "Black Value System" is. But I have a suspicion that whatever it is, it's not too good for White Folks.
Boy am I behind........I thought Mesopotamia (ms?) was the cradle of civilization.
It is posted in #8 word for word, except Senator Byrd replaced black with white and adopted it for his group.
Sounds racist to me !
Whaaaa???? Since they claim to be Christian, then where does Jesus fit into their picture? I see no mention of Him at all in their blatantly racist creed.

I Pledge allegiance to the all Black leadership
who espouse and embrace the Black Value System
And to the tin-pot dictatorship on which they stand,
One nation, under Barak Hussein Obama...
"Where does Jesus fit into their picture?
Evidently nowhere.
".....to become agents of change for God who is not pleased with Americas economic mal-distribution!"
So now God is displeased with our non-distribution of wealth? And who told them that? I wonder?
It looks like parts of their "Mission Statement" have more to do with the "Communist Manifesto" than the Bible and other parts resemble a "Mission Statement" of a a Black KKK.
They are not pleased by how the wealth is distributed, and they want the government to take it out of your pocket, and into theirs!
"true to our native land"
Shows what I know. I sang this song in church on the Sunday before MLK day and presumed it meant the United States of America. After all, by the time it was written (1899, I looked it up), both the authors and any person singing it was most likely born in the United States.
