Jack Zimmerman, attorney for Lance Cpl. Stephen Tatum, said Mattis ordered the investigation Jan. 23. "I was very pleased that he shared our thought that the investigation should never be released," said Zimmerman.
I would worry if I were Zimmerman, the defense lawyer.
This could be the brass's way of covering up Murtha's command influence.
The Defense Attorney needs to demand outside consultants representing the defense be part of this "investigation."
If there WERE command influence by Murtha, then, As it now stands, the "system" is on the side of the prosecutor. Due diligence would demand the defense be totally involved in any so-called investigation.

"The killings are the biggest U.S. criminal case involving civilian deaths to come out of the Iraq war. A total of 24 Iraqis - including women and children - were killed by Marines on Nov. 19, 2005." No "alleged" killings," no "alleged" civilians, no "apparently," as would be the normal practice. Just the AP's special way to spit on Marines (and soldiers). Why have a trial when the AP already has the verdict?
