These pictures make me nostalgic for all those CYO parties I attended as a kid where we danced around the church basement strangling ourselves with our rosary beads and plunging our hands into great big vats of boiling holy water.

Good times.

You said -- "beware of the abomination that causes desolation."

Okay, it pays to do some quoting here, of Jesus...

Matthew 24:3-22

3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you.

5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many.

6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake.

10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.

11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.

12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.

13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

15 "Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand),

16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house.

18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes.

19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!

20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath.

21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened.

The above is reference to the "abomination of desolation" (spoken about by Daniel), and "standing in the holy place" represents (very well to people of Jesus' day) inside the Temple. The time period described by Jesus is such that -- "For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be."

Next, we see what Jesus was referring to in Daniel, in that he was given this information from an angel of God, describing those future events (of which Jesus was talking about above). The "covenant" will be some sort of "Peace agreement" guaranteeing the peace and safety of Israel, in the face of the Muslim aggression.

Daniel 11:31-32

31 And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation.

32 Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.

Daniel 12:10-13

10 Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.

11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days.

12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.

Above, Daniel is describing a period of 1,290 days and 1,335 days, which is 30 and 45 days longer than the even division of the Tribulation Period of 1,260 days (first half of Tribulation time) and 1,260 days (the second half of Tribulation time) -- also described as 42 months and 42 months -- with the two witnesses being killed at the 42 month period. The extra days at the end, represent the time period taken (the longer time) for Jesus to battle the forces and set up the "Kingdom" for which He has come back to establish. There is 1,260 + 30 + 15 days equalling 1,335 days. These are precise time periods in which Jesus will act and set up the Kingdom of God on this earth and rule over the nations with a "rod of iron".

Below, we see in Revelation, the dimensions of the Temple having been built there. We can see that part of the area is given over to the "Gentiles" -- which is probably related to the Muslims still controlling part of the Temple mount.

Revelation 11:1-13

1 Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood,* saying, "Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there.

2 But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.

3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth."

4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth.

5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner.

6 These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.

7 When they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them.

8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

9 Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves.

10 And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.

11 Now after the three-and-a-half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them.

12 And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies saw them.

13 In the same hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. In the earthquake seven thousand people were killed, and the rest were afraid and gave glory to the God of heaven.

Below is the signs of the woman, child and the dragon. The dragon is very well described in that passage, without fail. The woman is recognized as Israel, while the child is the promised Messiah. The child is also the same description of the child in Isaiah 9:6 (like the singing of the Messiah at Christmas).

Revelation 12:1-11

1 Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars.

2 Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth.

3 And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.

4 His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born.

5 She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne.

6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.

7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought,

8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer.

9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

And heere we see the one who Jesus referred to as being accepted in "his own name" while Jesus came in the name of the Father and He was not accepted. This false messiah is given 42 months for his rule (the last half of the Tribulation time). This is right after he caused the "abomination of desolation" that Christ referred to in Daniel.

Revelation 13:5-8

5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months.

6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.

7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.

8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Jesus' reference to another coming in his own name --

John 5:43

43 I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.

This "abomination of desolation occurs at the 1,260 day mark of the first half of the Tribulation Period, when the two witnesses die and are resurrected and taken up, in the sight of the whole world -- while full control is given over to the antichrist, at that time, and the accompanying "abomination of desolation" in which he stands in the Temple declaring himself to be god and putting a halt to the Temple sacrifices.

That's the time that Jesus says (to the Jews) to "run for the hills"...

No, Jesus is talking about the perpetual sacrifice, the holy Euchrist, not temple animal sacrifice. Jesus called that a discusting worthless act. Not only that, Jesus said the temple would never be rebuilt, not a stone of it. even what's left of Herods stones, the wailing wall is going to come down.

You said -- "Jesus said the temple would never be rebuilt, not a stone of it."

He did not say it would not be rebuilt, what He said was that one stone would not be left standing upon another -- that's how thorough the destruction would be -- and it was.

The Tribulation Temple that will be in place, at that Tribulation time is also not the complete Temple area, because part of it is occupied by the Gentiles. So, it's cut back in size and dimension (as far as the area covered), by the description we are given.

Furthermore, as far as Catholicism is concerned, they have *never* recognized the coming of Christ to sit upon the Throne of David, in Jerusalem, ruling as a King over "national Israel" and as the King of Kings over the nations of the world. And they see that the Jews have no part in the coming Kingdom (apart from being a part of the Catholic church itself, that is...).

What is described in other passages is the "taking up" of the body of believers, to meet Christ "in the air" and then, leaving the Tribulation period to the Jews and the other Gentile nations -- absent the church (as the body of believers). It's during this time -- that the Apostle Paul describes (at the end) that *all Israel* will be saved -- when her Messiah returns to rule and reign over the nations.

And furthermore, Ezekiel describes a "Millennial Temple" that will be built during the reign of Christ -- as his description of the Temple has fit no other period of time, and it's given for the "time of the Kingdom" at the return of Christ and His Millennial reign on this earth.

You may have your Catholic theology, but it does not match the book of Daniel, the book of Ezekiel, of Isaiah, of Revelation and other books of the New Testament.

Here's what Jesus said about the Temple and the stones not left standing one upon the other...

Matthew 24:1-3

1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple.

2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down."

3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

And then the rest of the discourse, I've already posted, where Jesus tells about that coming "abomintion of desolation" in the holy place, which was the Temple in the future.

So, Jesus was saying that this Temple was nothing, it would be destroyed and then, He moves forward, in His explanations to His disciples and tells of the future time, during that coming Tribulation (of which there is no other time period on earth like it, according to Jesus) -- and it's during that time -- at the midpoint, that the Temple sacrifices are stopped and the "abomination of desolation" happens inside that Temple.

Blech. But not significantly different from Christian pilgrims ascending on their bloody, bare knees the many, many steps leading up to Our Lady of Guadalupe cathedral in Mexico.

Well, what are you going to say when the Jews reinstitute the Temple sacrifices in Israel?

When did the last sacrifice occur and what makes you think they will commence the practice?

Kinda like me saying to you "What are you going to say when your mamma decides to become a prostitute..........."
