Hillary/Giuliani: Serious About Race For President
WCBSTV.COM ^ | 27 JANUARY 2007 | AP

Posted on 01/27/2007 8:42:25 PM PST by Extremely Extreme Extremist

(CBS) NEW YORK -- After all the hinting hemming and hawing about whether they are really in the race Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani left no doubt in the minds of voters that they are serious about a presidential run in 2008.

"As a republican and I'm very, very optimistic that we're gonna turn this around and that we're gonna turn it around very, very quickly. Meaning this year, in time for 2008," said Giuliani-R , Former NYC Mayor at an engagement in New Hampshire.

And Senator Clinton confirmed her White House intentions in Iowa with her newly innovated slogan "I'm in it to win it."

"They're both in the race. Hillary has a much bigger organization set up. She's been raising money nationally longer," said political analyst Joseph Mercurio, about the man who was nicknamed America's Mayor after 9/11 and the senator who would be returning to the White House this time in the top job. "He's got a tremendous amount of name recognition nationally. He needs to set up a national organization before he's fully plunged into the race. But, undoubtedly he's running just as well as she is," he said.

So, what happens if it shakes out to be a Hillary versus Rudy battle for the white house in 08?

Mercurio says, "it would obviously good if one or the other of them won for New York City or the state how that plays in the rest of the country whether the New York image is a drag or not is a whole other conversation."

Rudy is NOT a social conservative. Guess what? Everybody knows that! So what do you think you are accomplishing with your trashing? Honestly - no one is reading this.

I took you at your word. that we would go by my definition of trashing. And by my defintion of trashing - that's all you're doing. So I ask one more time - what do you think you're accomplishing?

You are trashing Rudy. It all has to do with intention, imo.

As far as Rudy being a liberal (and yes, he is a LIBERAL--you can put whatever spin on it you like)....he worked on Bobby Kennedy's campaign in '64 (remeber my earlier post?), before endorsing George McGovern,,,and later, Mario Cuomo,,,and then defending Slick!!! Yep, no liberal leanings there at all!! /s

So you've never voted for a Democrat? I'd take a knee, if I could bring myself to believe you.

Check out the posting histories on most of these folks. You could count actual pro-Duncan Hunter posters on half of one hand. Everything else is Rudy Is Satan Incarnate.

Who are they supporting? Make your damned case, FGS.

I think most of these folks are just destructive. They're the unappeasables - the *purists*. No one but an obvious loser is good enough for them. What I mean is - that they are working to ensure that the GOP loses in 08

First of all, see post 116, a column by Pastor Jim Lamb. He writes it in a way that explains it best.

From where I stand, there isn't any progress toward halting abortions. Having said that, I don't believe it would make any difference if either Hillary or Rudy were to become president.

I also don't even think it would make much difference if a prolife republican were elected. But that's not the point.
For my part, I will not support someone who sanctions the taking of an innocent baby in the womb.

I can't believe I have to keep stating this over and over.
The Republican party attracted me because of its' prolife plank. Why is having Rudy as the nominee so damned important to all of you?

Destructive is about the right term. Some unaddressed personal inadequacy, likely, brings out vitriol against self-confident realists who can differentiate the forest from the trees.

It's far easier to curse the darkness than to light a candle.

Notice none of them have EVER answered a question about their own involvement with politics. All I can do is pray for them.

We're for just about any other Republican candidate in the race except for Rudy. We've made our case repeatedly against the pro-abortion, gun-grabbing, pro-amnesty, pro-UN, pro-radical gay agenda, anti-party platform, serial adulterer, northeast liberal lawyer. And we will keep making that case until the day he drops out of the race or he is defeated by an actual Republican candidate. I'm kind of leaning towards Hunter right now, but I'm waiting for things to shake out to see which conservative starts to make headway against the liberal frontrunners. But Rudy has fooled far too many people in the party and they've got to hear the truth about his liberal record and views and understand what a disaster it will be if he wins the nomination.

I'll take a look at post #116

From where I stand, there isn't any progress toward halting abortions. Having said that, I don't believe it would make any difference if either Hillary or Rudy were to become president.

I also don't even think it would make much difference if a prolife republican were elected. But that's not the point.

Ok so you don't see the President making much difference. So it won't make any difference as far as how many abortions there are - who is elected? It doesn't matter. But you, personally, won't vote for anyone who is pro-abort? even though, in your view, it doesn't really make any difference?

Doesn't make sense to me! I can't follow you there.

Why is having Rudy as the nominee so damned important to all of you?

He's a viable candidate ... articulate. Speaks from the heart, passionate. Tough on crime and, by extention, tough on Islamo-fascists. Told the Saudi to stuff his 10 million dollars.

That's a start.

Fair enough (though you never answered my question WAY upthread). Do you honestly think that you are convincing conservatives to avoid supporting a viable candidate by non-stop posting of quotes from 1988-2001?

No one leaves the house to go vote AGAINST someone. Blowing down someone's house doesn't give you a warm place to sleep.

It's the same ones posting the same whining rants over and over again who don't have the intelligence to know how boring they are and how they're turning people off

The candidate they're pushing [Hunter]has been a congressman for 25-26 years yet he was barely known to anyone until a few weeks ago, except to those in the San Diego area. That's not what I would call a very bright spark or someone who has the right makings for the position as President and CIC of our troops, especially when we are at war.

It's far easier to curse the darkness than to light a candle.

yes, I love that saying. My guess is that these folks are classic martyrs. If they don't get their way - they will punish. They always consider themselves to be right - even if they are evidentially shown to be wrong - nothing will change their mind. Everyone else in the whole word is wrong :-) They will always claim to be right. Everything is also always about them. They really have no interest in other people. They almost always claim to be misunderstood, unappreciated, with trials that are harder than other people's trials etc etc :-) They are generally a wicked combination of arrogance, self-pity and hostility. That's why they are so destructive.

Anytime someone says, "you'll be sorry if you do such and such...if you don't do what I want... there's a good chance you're dealing with a martyr. We've seen what an Islamic martyr is capable of. At least these guys don't strap bombs to themselves - but they do want to destroy the GOP it seems.
