yes, I love that saying. My guess is that these folks are classic martyrs. If they don't get their way - they will punish. They always consider themselves to be right - even if they are evidentially shown to be wrong - nothing will change their mind. Everyone else in the whole word is wrong :-) They will always claim to be right. Everything is also always about them. They really have no interest in other people. They almost always claim to be misunderstood, unappreciated, with trials that are harder than other people's trials etc etc :-) They are generally a wicked combination of arrogance, self-pity and hostility. That's why they are so destructive.
Anytime someone says, "you'll be sorry if you do such and such...if you don't do what I want... there's a good chance you're dealing with a martyr. We've seen what an Islamic martyr is capable of. At least these guys don't strap bombs to themselves - but they do want to destroy the GOP it seems.

It isn't "about me." It's about the easily percieved certainty, garnered from experience and from a knowledge of life and politics, that if you do "A", "B" will result.
If you pick a nominee that isn't acceptable to the component parts of the GOP coalition, that coalition will fall to pieces in short order. But, nothing is going to change your determination to push your liberal agenda no matter what, so good night.
