As much I hope and would like to have a Repub candidate that pro life, the most important thing is to have someone who DEFEAT the RATS! Flame away!
It looks like all the folks with dogs in the fight are going to be working hard to take out the other dogs.
Bump, but holding my tongue.
Not good. Not good at all.
Hmm, Another Hit piece on Romney... Pick the Facts you like, and you can make anyone look bad.
Has anyone seriously considered the completely
"counterintuitive" evolution of a "woman's right to choose"? It became apparently an URGENT issue already some years after birth control pills were widely acceptable, and available, (and one would think birth control would have LESSENED the need for abortion, if anything), and as of '98, the "morning after pill" (the "two" punch of the one-two punch) to kill reproduction is available. Now wouldn't one think, that between those two PILLS, the need for ABORTION would be minimal and marginalized into only an extremely rare circumstance, which is the way most sensible people want it? But NO, instead, they all three work together in some kind of reproductive juggernaut, as if there IS no logical connection between the three of them. Coming soon to an abortion clinic near you: vending machines with BC pills on the left, Morning Afters on the right. Or am I describing something that has already happened?
Gee, I read all of this last fall before I decided that Romney would make the best Republican norminee for POTUS. Nothing new here.
Maybe he'll convert to Buddhism tomorrow... No, that wouldn't get him the nomination.
To paraphrase Ann Coulter.....don't we cut him some slack after all he was the guvna of the people republic of Massachusetts. One question I might have for my fellow freepers is would you support a "pro-choice" canidate if you were conviced he/she was the best to deal with the Islamofacists?
At least he's pro life and has enough sense to see that abortion is murder. That is more than can be said for some other Republican candidates.
In googling around the web, the last solidly pro-abortion statement that I could find from Romney came in 2002. The first solidly pro-life statement that I could find came in 2005. This article says that his conversion began in 2004.
As a pastor, I definitely believe in the reality of conversions.
On the other hand, I also believe that someone could misrepresent such a thing for political purposes.
In religious conversions, I’m compelled to give the benefit of the doubt to the convert. In conversions to certain ways of thinking or seeing the world, even the world of faith, a person should at least get a hearing.
This is not a salvation-experience type conversion, yet it does have some religious dimensions to it, but I’m inclined to view it as a conversion to a new viewpoint. Romney deserves a fair hearing, but it seems ok to me to be honestly skeptical. Honest skepticism would be open to evidence that the conversion was real.
As Ann Coulter said. “I don’t care if someone flip-flops as long as they flop my way.”
