NBC's Anti-Rudy Push Poll
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 01/27/2007 9:01:32 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Definition: Push Poll: "A push poll is a political campaign technique in which an individual or organization attempts to influence or alter the view of respondents under the guise of conducting a poll. Push polls are generally viewed as a form of negative campaigning. The term is also sometimes used incorrectly to refer to legitimate polls which test political messages, some of which may be negative. Push polling has been condemned by the American Association of Political Consultants."
Melissa Russo, political reporter for NBC's NYC affiliate WNBC, recently followed Rudy Giuliani up to New Hampshire. In her report on this morning's "Today," Russo stressed that at a GOP campaign stop, Giuliani failed to inform the Granite State Republicans that "he's far from a social conservative."

View video here.

So Russo decided to take it upon herself to inform them. Here's Russo interviewing a nice Republican lady:

Russo: "Did you know he was pro-choice, pro-gun control, pro gay rights?"

Nice Republican lady: "No-o-o-o."

Russo: "Would that affect your support for him?"

Nice Republican lady: "Ye-s-s."

Have a look again at that definition of push polling. Sound to you like Russo was engaging in it?

How many of you guys .. how many Freepers are losing hair?

I used to make fun of a buddy of mine in the Marines. He used to have a bald spot on the back of his head, and I gave it a nickname, "LZ Blue Bird" (a landing zone on Camp Lejeuene). Like most Marines, he took it well, and dished it back to me.

Not too many years later, MY hair was thinning in the same spot. Poetic justice, and Murphy's Law rules, I guess. No big deal.

My point with RINO-rudy, is that this man may run to be THE main representative/leader for the United States of America around the world. Besides the fact that RINO-rudy is TOO liberal, which is my MAIN reason for opposing him, he doesn't LOOK or SOUND like the man we need (with his speech impediment, nervous tick, and bald head).

That's the reality. HE's considring a run for President, while I, and other guys on FR are NOT.

If Rudy is the only person standing between us and Hillary, Obama or Edwards, that would be another thing.

Richardson is going to be the dem candidate. He can be dressed up as more conservative than rudy right quick. Bam! All of rudy's appeal goes out the window.

It's single issue people like you who are largely responsible for putting the dems in control of congress recently. If you don't get your guy you go crying and pouting like a three year old does when he doesn't get his way. Kinda immature in my opinion. I'm not any more excited about Rudy than you are, but if he is the republican nominee, and Hillary is the dem's nominee, I will chose Rudy hands down. The way I see it, it's better to get 60% of what I want than to get nothing at all.

Rudy still looks good even bald. Balding is better than a comb-over. i think of combovers as dishonest as any of his other lies.

How can you discern an FR liberal?

It's easy. A member of the Democrat Media tells the truth for the first time ever, and they hate it.

Oh, there's another way:

They like to call conservatives names...like "single-issue," or "unappeasable", or far worse.

You are laughable. How many months was Rudy in office after 9-11 and how much time did he have to concentrate on anything but 9-11 and the aftermath?

He lost many friends that day and am sure illegals who were not part of the terrorist where not high on his priority list.

All of you will go to any lengths to prove your point of your hate for Rudy while leaving out important information. How many people in 2001 thought anything about illegals and were up in arms. Not many I know! After 9-11, it started becoming a real issue because of the terrorist.

Downright mean-spirited. The worst possible reflection on FR.

Are you referring to the BunnySlipper's mean-spirited photo of conservative, Republican, former member of the Reagan Administration and Ambassador, Dr. Alan Keyes?

Or maybe the various Duncan Hines and Dunkin Donuts pics posted by PSYCHO-FREEP and others to belittle conservative, Republican, former Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Representative Duncan Hunter?

Maybe you're referring to the incessant and mean-spirited attacks against conservative, Republican, recipient of the American Conservative Union's "100% - Best and Brightest" Award, Chairman of the House Immigration Caucus, Representative Tom Tancredo.

You see, FR has a long history of bashing liberals. And often such bashing is "mean-spirited" as liberals deserve at least that. Giuliani is a liberal. And he's going to get what he deserves here. But the attacks against conservatives are inappropriate on a conservative forum. There is a difference.

Liberal Republicans overwhelmingly turn out to be squishes when it comes to defense and foreign affairs.

But even if you could persuade me that Giuliani was the rare exception, contrary to his record of using his political capital to push for hundreds of thousands of illegal foreign nationals to dwell safely and securely in his city, it still wouldn't qualify him for the highest office in the land. After all, Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Roosevelt and LBJ were hawks.

The Dims are terrified of Rudy. They're desperate and don't know how to deal with a candidate like Rudy, so they try and smear him and trick voters into hating him. If Rudy is the best candidate who can keep Queen Hillary from claiming her throne, so be it.

Stop the insanity now!

Hah. With Rudy you don't even need photoshop.

I'll say it again: Nominating a liberal like Rudy McRomney will break apart the Reagan conservative coalition, perhaps permanently.

What sane person wants two Democrat nominees and two Democrat Parties?

Now you are comparing LBJ to dictators? Give me a break! You are over the top! :) BTW, I never liked LBJ!

Would love to carry on some discourse with you but since I have been at the receiving end of you and your fellow Keyesters trying to get some of us banned for getting in arguments, it is going to be difficult. When you called Jim to the thread the other night, the writing was on the wall. Some of us have long memories when you and others don't get your way you either tell us to leave or call in reinforcements to try to get us banned.

Not going to work this time with some of us because we are not going to play your games and get mad. We will keep pointing out the facts and let people that read this site decide for themselves what is important in who they vote for for President. We will also bring humor to the threads as our way of dealing with some far out posting.

Spinning and telling us we are not conservatives by your side of Keyes supporters doesn't carry any weight and would have thought after all these years you would have all learned. You definition of a liberal and mine are too different things. People can be liberal socially and tough as nails conservative on national security which is what we are facing here. That is why they are not DemocRATs. National security after 9-11 is my #1 issue when I look at a candidate. Is that candidate going to stand up to the terrorist or is that candidate going to want to 'negotiate' for the sake of world opinion? Rudy fits that mold IMO.

My definition of RINO is totally different. Those that throw temper tantrums and stay home or vote for the Dem because they drank the koolaid and believe he is more conservative are the Republican in Name Only crowd but co-opted that term RINO to mean anyone that doesn't agree with their side and now apply it to a lot of us who have been Republican working in the trenches a lot longer than a lot of folks on here to elect good conservative candidates. EV, I leave you out of that because I know how hard you work for your candidates but some on here that are the nastiest I would bet have never knocked doors or made thousands of phone calls.

At one time, social issues were not the primary focus of the Republican Party until Robertson and company decided the GOP needed to pander to get more votes. Then the GOP got double barrelled by the social conservatives in 1992, 2000 and again in 2006. I am just a plain old Conservative Republican that believes without winning none of my issues will see the light of day. Dr. Coburn didn't run for office on social issues, he ran on cutting pork and spending in the Congress and that is his primary focus.

I was a George Allen supporter for President but we know what happened there. Have heard Rudy speak, know people who support him, and I trust him on National Security as much as anyone running that can get elected. Someone from the House after 30 years doesn't stand much of a chance unfortunately and why I am touting a Rudy/Hunter ticket.

Temper tantrums are not going to work this time because there will be a coalition of voters that support Rudy from all sides for various reasons. This is a defining moment in the history of our Country. After observing the DemocRATs in power once again in both Houses, we cannot afford to let them get the WH and we have to take back Congress or all of our issues will go down the drain.

My sincere hope is after the hard fought primaries, we will all join together to defeat the DemocRATs in the Presidential race and take back the House and Senate. A primary can be fun as you tout your candidate but when the only thing some Freepers are doing is tearing down a candidate, it doesn't work. More and more Freepers are seeing the truth as they have in the past. The hatred I see on these threads is no different than 2000 and the Recall threads.

I will continue to approach the Keyesters with humor this time instead of getting mad because I have no intention of leaving this site nor ever getting banned for being over the top. Learned a valuable lesson when you get really mad and that is to type out your reply and then delete and ignore that person.
