Hot Dog!! Maybe I can get a two-fer when they do my lobotomy!! I mean they're going to be right there. A little snip and I can quit smoking painlessly!! I love modern medicine.

So after the brain surgery does one just forget to light up, or forget what the white stick thingy is for, or what?

" smokers who suffered damage to this part of the brain were able to quit quickly and easily. "
You have to be brain damaged to quit smoking?
To: The Raven
So, you need brain damage to quit smoking easily? Hmm. Let me know when they find the will power "platform" or "insula" or whatchamacallit.
I quit some years ago, it wasn't so hard after about a week of needing to distract myself in various ways---and staying away from the places where I had smoked. After that I rarely even thought of it. Most days I don't even think of cigarettes in any way. And yet, when I do, I remember how enjoyable it was and wish I could partake, but it isn't a physical craving in any sense.
If you want to quit, you don't need brain damage. A brain will do.
If you don't...that's ok too! :)

Oh yeah, I'm going to consider brain surgery to help me quit smoking. NOT!
When I want to quit I will. It helps to have self discipline.

Oh yeah, sure. Some scientists are trying to find a brain center for everything. This is really part of the attempt to reduce the human mind to a machine.
To: The Raven
Now maybe they can find the center for liberalism.

I "forgot to smoke" a couple of times, once for eight years and once for ten. Maybe I should have my insula checked.

I have a prescription for Chantix...haven't started taking it yet...my parents were living with us...Dad's an 83 year old smoker...they moved back to Florida last Sunday so I am starting my Chantix this coming Monday morning...didn't want to set myself up for failure while they were here...I really really want to quit because I do NOT want to end up with the medical problems my parents have due to smoking...their 4 month visit really opened my eyes!

Hmmm. Interesting. Brain damage causes non-smoking. I guess I could have told you that.

If smokers stopped smoking...................how would those programs funded by the taxes smokers pay be continued?
There should be a Federal law banning any funding of any studies or experiments that result in a procedure that would "cure" smoking.
The tax monies are needed.................................for The Children.
