The set of Glenn Beck's talk show on CNN Headline News looks like the rooftop patio of a posh apartment, complete with simulated bricks and a huge photo-realist mural of a SoHo block. Beck is standing in the middle of this fake aerie, riffing about porn.
He avoids X-rated movies and magazines, he says, but won't offer the righteous condemnations you'd expect from the God-fearing conservative that he constantly reminds viewers he is. Porn isn't for him -- but neither is legislating morality.

Did a quick search and did not see this. Thought it was an okay article and I know there are some Beck fans on FR - Glenn Beck not Jeff Beck, though there are probably fans of him here, also.

Jeff Beck rocks too.

This business about legislating morality is the absolute stupidest notion to come down the liberal pike. Governments, including our own, have been legislating morality since day 0. There are a myriad of laws already on the books.

Governments, including our own, have been legislating morality since day 0. I think that's the point.

There are a myriad of laws already on the books.Yup! Like the "Blue Laws," and the the laws that "gave birth" to the ice cream sundae (since it was illegal to sell ice cream sodas on Sundays). Or the time that the MO state legislature made sex illegal (yes, even between married couples). Yup... No law that legislates morality should ever be stricken from the book either...

Well, it is part of the function of government in order to stabilize society. Many people act like it is something new or a big deal that you can't have sex in public view.

or how bout sex in mainstreet with your sister or defecation in your own front yard at noon.

I may oppose Romney, but not because he is a Mormon. I simply can't vote for someone that the voters of Massachusetts put into power because they also vote Kerry and Kennedy back in over and over.

or how bout sex in mainstreet with your sister or defecation in your own front yard at noon. The first one makes the sex drives of witnesses go haywire (which interferes with their thinking) and the second one is a public health menace. These can rationally be banned.

There is an excuse for every law on the books.
