Russia maintains listening posts along the Syrian border with Israel which it uses to follow IDF movements in the Golan Heights, it was revealed Thursday night.
According to a report on Channel 2, the posts are manned by Russian military officers who pass on information to Hizbullah in Lebanon. Israel, The Jerusalem Post learned, has known about the posts for over a decade since they were established.
Russia's involvement in the Iranian nuclear program, as well as various state-of-the-art arms sales it has periodically made to both Syria and Iran, has caused some friction over the last few years in Russian-Israeli ties.
Diplomatic officials said that the while Prime Minister Ehud Olmert discussed with the Russians during his visit to Moscow in October the advanced Russian arms that were found in Hizbullah's possession during the summer's war in Lebanon, the issue of the listening posts was not brought up.
Russia most recently drew Israeli ire after completing a sale of advanced anti-aircraft missiles to Iran earlier this month.
Russia has been involved with hezbolah since way back. They have always supported them along with syria and Iran.
It high time Washington woke up and viewed Putin's Kremlin in the same light as Iran and Syria - the enemy.
Bet they also have a "flash" network set up to notify Iran if the IAF heads East.

The moment Hezbolla attacks again, those "Russian" listening posts should be the first things hit by the IDF aircraft fired missles; and those hits should be making the widest and most deepest possible application of what is considered the "targets" in the area of those listening posts.
Exactly. No one can fault them for acting in their own national interests. But this behavior is exactly opposite to their national interests. The last thing they need is to build up rogue states and fanatical Islamists on their own borders, and arm them with nuclear weapons. Yet that seems to be their aim.
Meantime, Russia itself is decaying from within. If they don't fix that, they will doom themselves to extinction.
This is worse than the kind of corruption that plagued Russia under the Tsars. Back then at least they had energy and courage, and were building an empire and fending off the Muslim threat. Now, they are in a state of demographic implosion, and are welcoming in their own destroyers.

Some cousins from my father's side come got out of the Ukraine about 15 years ago. Among many other things, I asked them what they thought about the end of the Cold War and the new political situation in the old Soviet Union. Putin is just another Commie dictator who doesn't happen to publicly call himself a Commie. He's as anti-US, anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish as any SOB who ran the Soviet Union...and we should deal with **this** SOB the same way.
Israel should find some way (whether electronic or explosive) to neutralize the listening posts. Of course, that'd require the guy in charge of Israel to have a functioning brain and a spine.
