Guilford College officials have scheduled a community forum on campus today to discuss an assault that authorities say was ethnically motivated.

Three Guilford College students are free on bond after authorities accused them of beating three Palestinian students. Two of the students were seriously injured.

The News and Record of Greensboro, citing court documents, reports that the assailants used their fists, feet and brass knuckles. The attack involved at least 15 members of the school's football team and occurred at Bryan Hall, a dormitory on the Guilford College campus.

The attack occurred early Saturday morning.

Michael Bates, Michael Robert Six and Christopher Barnette are all charged with ethnic intimidation and assault and battery.

School officials stressed that the college will hold its own judicial process in addition to monitoring the criminal charges.

Very weird this is practically an Ivy league school - at least in appearance and tuition.

Moose-limb, anti-American, death-cult activists or just unlucky?

It's also a very pacifist Quaker school.

Guilford College has evolved well beyond it's pacifist, Quaker roots, into one of the most liberal institutions of higher learning in the state. The three are members of the football team, two are white and one is black. The student meetings to denounce "hate" and the vigils began almost immediately. The three accused students live off campus, and have not been suspended, however.

I'm not sure what sort of point you might be attempting to make, here. I live about ten miles from the campus and my dad actually went to school there for a few years, back before the loons took complete control. I'm just posting what I've heard personally, and on the local news a half hour or so ago.

I'm not endorsing fighting, but this kind of stuff happens all the time between boys. It never makes the news. The only thing that stands out here is the brass knuckles. My Fraternity house one night had a brawl that beat anyone I have ever seen. After about five minutes of straight fighting cooler heads prevailed. Everybody parted ways bruised and sore yes, but the cops were never called.

I can't say for certain what really occurred, but the reports leave the impression with me that there was a fair amount of mouthing off going on outside of Bryan Hall even before the brawl, apparently begun by the two Palestinian male students, who are not exactly athletic looking. Brass knuckles are not legally sold as a weapon here (but you can get one as a "paperweight"). The three football players are fairly brawny as you might expect. One of the Palestinians has been appearing at vigils and getting face time with the local news, seems to be of an activist mentality.

Since there is no Palestine, there are no Palestinians, but the two have been identified as such, so I'll go along with it for clarity's sake, even though it's a completely politicized fiction.

That profile makes him sound like a hothead and a camera hound, with a racial chip on his shoulder to boot. Could little Osama have intentionally provoked this to further his ambitions? I'm beginning to wonder who had the brass knuckles.

it may be tuition wise...but not intelligence wise...I know three kids who go there...not the brightest bulbs.

Those were my thoughts too, something does not add up with all this. No doubt we are not hearing the entire story.

I played at Catawba college for a year and I tell you truthfully that on the freshmen hall we had a fight a week just because, damn we were young highly aggressive guys. No one ever got seriously hurt but there was plenty of blood and bruises. You are absolutely correct!

I know for a fact, being a former guilford college attendee, that these palestinian students have conducted themselves in an agressive manor before. The same students labeled as the victims jumped a student themselves in the Fall of 2006. The student then retailiated by getting in some cheap shots a couple nights later. The palestians then went to administration and claimed the kid who hit them was shouting racist, pro-semite remarks and the kid who should have been labeled the victim in this case was thrown out of school. These same palestinians are doing the same thing that worked before, pulling the race card and blowing this incident out of proportion. I was not there the night this recent incident occured but it seems to me that these incidednt are way too closely related and something has to be done so we can see both sides. Who's to say that these kids didn't deserve the beating they took. Karma is a bitch.
