Republicans 2008: Giuliani 34%, McCain 27%

Rudy Giuliani remains the most popular presidential hopeful for Republican Party supporters in the United States, according to a poll by TNS released by the Washington Post and ABC News. 34 per cent of respondents would support the former New York City mayor in a 2008 primary.

Arizona senator John McCain is second with 27 per cent, followed by former House of Representatives speaker Newt Gingrich and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney with nine per cent each.

Support is lower for former Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, Kansas senator Sam Brownback, Colorado congressman Tom Tancredo, former Virginia governor Jim Gilmore, and Texas congressman Ron Paul.

I'm a pro-life Catholic (weekly attendance), but it seems to me the president has a greater effect on how the WoT is prosecuted, than he does on the abortion issue (where is mostly judge appointments)

For the 1,000th time, as you Liberals have been posting this poll hourly, it doesn't even poll Primary voters. It's right freaking there in the disclaimers.

It polls random people, not even registered voters, much less likely voters.

The poll has been analyzed on CNN and FoxNews (as has been posted my several people several times), and curiously enough, polls from three major cities.

There's a reason no other poll has Hitlery just DESTROYING Barrack Obama right now.

That has little to do with this. I don't like bogus polls - and no, I don't think all polls lie or anything like that.

Rudy is ahead, by the cumulative of the reliable polls, by about 6-8 points over McCain. He is in the mid to low 20%s, low 20%s with likely primary voters - mid 20% with registered primary voters. I just want accurate numbers.

I am a crusader in this war. I'm just not willing to surrender everything else to support ONLY the War on Terror under some false pretense than only Rudy will fight it.

Look if the choices are to die fighting for my causes while Islamofascists try to forcefully take them from me, or to willingly surrender them all to the liberals (be they GOP or Democrat) without a fight, I'll take the former.

The GOP is going to have to do better than Rudy Giuliani, or they are going to have to deal with defectors and a third party candidate. Hell, I'd even hold my nose and vote McCain - THAT tells you something.

I've defended RINOs for quite some time, especially in the Senate. I still will in the future. But Rudy Giuliani - running for PRESIDENT - is unacceptable. And to me and many others - it is a dire situation that he could even be running as a Republican.

I will go as far left as McCain - no farther. Even we who have helped the RINOs before have our limits, and Rudy is far beyond that threshold.

Clearly, Guiliani is benefitting from his leadership on September 11 (which was exemplary) and memories of it. McCain is a familiar name. There rest, few have heard of.

People don't tend to vote for people they know nothing about.
