That was my impression as well. I hear that the Cardinals really wanted Chow as HC because it would have reunited him with Leinart.

I hear that the Cardinals really wanted Chow as HC Chow's name is on everbody's short list, College and pro.

"Bill Walsh had a very telling comment about Mr. Davis many years ago when he said 'I never understood why he got out of coaching.' I've kind of wondered that myself for a long time."
IIRC, the NFL no longer allows the owners to be head coaches also - he and George Halas were the last ones.

This guy is good enough for the Raiders job but not the Mn. Gophers. We got Punky Brewster instead. A tight end coach for the Broncos.

Unfortunately, it seems as if the organization is simply waiting for Al Davis to die or quit before making a serious effort at playing football again.
As for Cameron... I'm hoping he has the sense to see that the defense still needs some help.

Re: Raider fans
In 2000, I flew over to see my first Raider game in Oakland.
Hit a heatwave and had to spend much of it up in the shade feeling rather ill.
The fans were so kind to me. Brought me a chair, cold water, food. . . .
Whatever they may appear to be on the TV, is not the case.
I had my Raider cap on, of course :-)

"the sporting news just had an article regarding the raiders as the worse nfl franchise ... nothing nice was said"
Of all-time?
Al Davis may suffer from dementia at this time but when his head was straight the Raiders were the best (In terms of winning percentage).

That must be nice. Here on the East Coast, anybody wearing Raider apparel is a thug.
It's kind of sad, I'll pull out a Silver and Black jersey or hat, and everyone gives me second or third looks. Apparently the pale, caucasian look doesn't mix well with thug clothes. Then, they realize that I'm an actual fan. :-(

I have a Raiders sweatshirt. I jokingly refer to it as my humility shirt.

Yes, it's rare for me to get a "stink-eye", as there are plenty of Hawaii Raider fans. I have a Raider sticker on my silver & black wheelchair.
And yes . . . I leave it on all year, every year. :-)
To: fredhead
What's ironic is that a couple of years ago, when the Raiders owned the AFC West for a couple years, I could throw a rock and have it bounce off three or four people here with Raiders apparel.
Now that they stink again, it's just drug dealers and me again. :-)
I guess it doesn't help that I (have to) pull for Air Force football, and Pittsburgh Pirates baseball. Nobody can call me fairweather.

I had a wall at my old apartment dedicated to the Oakland Raiders. And another one dedicated to KISS.
Now that I've gottn a little more mature...well...at least older, I've realized that you can't have two of your walls decked in all black without getting raised eyebrows.
