Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- An African-American organization is upset that the nation's top abortion business has been included in a civil rights coalition. Members of Project 21 say they are outraged that Planned Parenthood recently became a member of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights (LCCR).Project 21 chairman Mychal Massie says Planned Parenthood advocates abortions -- particularly in the black community.
"How can a civil rights group that claims to support underprivileged blacks embrace an organization created expressly to hasten the demise of black people?" Massie asked in a statement LifeNews.com received.
"People of conscience should be appalled and outraged by this alignment," he added.
The LCCR is a political coalition of almost 200 groups representing liberal racial, gender, age, disability and religious special interests as well as labor unions. The group is known for its opposition to judicial nominees who adhere to an orginalist interpretation of the Constitution.
In announcing the new affiliation, Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington president and CEO Jatrice Martel Gaiter said her group and the LCCR now "share a dedication to promoting human rights" as well as alleged "committed to justice and equality.
LCCR president Wade Henderson added that Planned Parenthood was "one of the nation's leading health care advocates" and that "health care reform is the next frontier for the civil rights movement."
However, Massie said that promoting abortion doesn't square with the pro-life values most black Americans hold dear.
In a poll conducted by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press released in August of 2006, 70 percent of black Protestants said that abortion should be prohibited or eliminated.
"The civil rights movement in America has been stifled for many years by poor leadership and an inability to focus on the real issues that hinder progress," Project 21 member Djana Milton said about Planned Parenthood's membership.
"By getting into bed with a nearly billion-dollar organization so vocal in professing its desire to increase risky behaviors without an eye to consequences, the LCCR has taken a giant step backwards in promoting true civil rights in America," Milton added.

This was never a sinister plot to exterminate just black babies. No, it was a sinister plot to exterminate black babies and babies descended from Southern Europeans and other "undesirables."
And tell me, where did Mr. Massie say that PP was established to only kill black children?

This is a colossally silly argument. What's silly about it? How about we have neo-Nazis join the board of the Holocaust museum, or just let the Klan take care of the King papers?

wait wait, I need to get into Margaret Sanger love mode.
Ahem.
"But she was only doing it because they were poor black people and she thought all black people were poor and unable to advance because at the time it was popular to hate black people! You can't blame her for being a racist because LOL like everyone was doing it at the time!"
Seriously. I used to joke about a pairing like that. It's scary that my joke came true.
Of course that's because if someone was trying to rape me, I wouldn't want to say, "Let's be friends and share common goals," I would grab the closest thing I could and start beating him with it. Maybe some people out there like being exploited.

Maybe we shouldn't reject this one as quickly as the others. I know we can all think of examples of people who shouldn't have become parents! ;)

"What about "Dollar Bill" Jefferson in NOLA?"
William Jefferson was good on the cloning ban, even voting against the "clone and kill" sham substitute amendment, but other than that his record on abortion issues has been very poor. He did vote for final passage of the partial-birth abortion ban, but unfortunately voted for the sham substitute amendment with the "health of the mother" exception that wouldn't have banned a single abortion (and thus was supported by most pro-abortion Democrats). He also voted for final passage of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act in 2004, but voted for the sham "single-victim" substitute amendment that wouldn't have charged the perpetrator with murder when he shot a pregnant woman but only the baby dies, and in 2001 he didn't even vote for final passage of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act. On every other abortion vote, and there were dozens of others, Jefferson voted pro-abortion. Here's his voting record on abortion since 2001:
http://www.capwiz.com/nrlc/bio/keyvotes/?id=275 Regarding Sanford Bishop, his voting record on abortion is far better than Jefferson's, since he voted against the sham substitute amendment to the PBA ban of 2003, against an additional hostile motion to the human cloning ban, for the Child Custody Protection Act, for the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act and for the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act. Still, Bishop's voting record is more towards the "pro-choice" side of the ledger. See

I was at a morning meeting the other day and the Plant Manager asked what we did over the week end. I stated that we discussed the rifles we got as Christmas Presents, I got a real nice Custom Model 700 from my daughter.
Our commie enviro co-ordinator made a snide remark about right wingers, so I asked her, "I Marched with Dr. King, did you?"

It's funny, I always heard Jefferson as described as a pro-life Catholic (following in the tradition of his predecessor, Lindy Boggs). Yet another lie, it seems.

A double lie, actually, since Jefferson not only is far from pro-life but is a Baptist, not a Catholic. (Although he did get an LL.M. from Georgetown University Law School while a member of Congress.)
Lindy Boggs had a pro-life voting record until the very end, though.

Killing babies is "civil rights"? That shows just how much the left (marxists) have succeeded in distorting the meaning of words for their own purposes.

Ohhh, what a cutie!!
Good graphic though. I'm not in Colorado but that is very, very good. Would be great to put that on billboards in EVERY Black community.
