William Jefferson was good on the cloning ban, even voting against the "clone and kill" sham substitute amendment, but other than that his record on abortion issues has been very poor. He did vote for final passage of the partial-birth abortion ban, but unfortunately voted for the sham substitute amendment with the "health of the mother" exception that wouldn't have banned a single abortion (and thus was supported by most pro-abortion Democrats). He also voted for final passage of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act in 2004, but voted for the sham "single-victim" substitute amendment that wouldn't have charged the perpetrator with murder when he shot a pregnant woman but only the baby dies, and in 2001 he didn't even vote for final passage of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act. On every other abortion vote, and there were dozens of others, Jefferson voted pro-abortion. Here's his voting record on abortion since 2001:
http://www.capwiz.com/nrlc/bio/keyvotes/?id=275 Regarding Sanford Bishop, his voting record on abortion is far better than Jefferson's, since he voted against the sham substitute amendment to the PBA ban of 2003, against an additional hostile motion to the human cloning ban, for the Child Custody Protection Act, for the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act and for the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act. Still, Bishop's voting record is more towards the "pro-choice" side of the ledger. See
