Moneyman Soros Dumps Her for Obama (Dumps Hillary for Obama)
NY Daily News ^ | 1/22/07

On the eve of her historic presidential announcement, Hillary Clinton lost the support of liberal big-ticket donor George Soros to the Barack Obama campaign, the Daily News has learned.

Soros' switch was a stunner in the Clinton camp, which had hoped to woo him back amid a flurry of exchanges.

"There were e-mails and conference calls," said one Democrat familiar with the shock that met the Soros defection. A spokesman for Soros stressed that he would support Clinton if she wins the Democratic nomination and noted he supported Obama's 2004 Senate campaign.

Soros' move was the latest sign that Clinton's hold on big-ticket donors is not as strong as many thought. Team Hillary also recently lost Wall Street fund manager James Torrey to the Illinois senator's camp.

Like Soros, Torrey's value goes beyond his own contributions; they are capable of raising millions for Obama.

"Having an abundance of money is one, two and three of what political pundits look at to determine presidential viability," said Scott Levenson, president of the Advance Group, a New York-based Democratic fund-raising firm.

He said Obama poses only a modest threat to Hillary Clinton because her husband's star power and her well-greased fund-raising operation give her an enormous advantage over fellow Democrats, he said.

"One must presume there will be a donor who will give to Barack Obama over Hillary, but the great amount of the money and interest from the Democratic Party will go in the opposite direction," said Levenson.

"He might take from her but this is not competitive. His takes are anomalies, not patterns."

Federal Election Commissioner Michael Toner predicts about $1 billion will be spent this presidential election cycle and he estimates a candidate will need to raise $100 million by the end of the year to be "taken seriously."

During the last presidential primary, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) raised $234 million and President Bush raised $269 million, but Toner figures 2008 contenders will spend double that.

Hillary's two main fund-raising vehicles, HillPAC, a leadership committee, and Friends of Hillary (FOH), are known for hosting a flurry of swanky soirees throughout the city.

That's good, but the Hil is the big threat to this country. Hil believes that the nomination is her right.
Obama won't be elected. Hil and her slime machine will see to that. Also, the femnazis still control the media and all politicians. Femnazis won't let Obama win.

So, does that mean that Soros bankrolled Move-On will attack Hillary?

Don't doubt the gullibility of the public. The two big swing base groups in America right now are single women and the overall Hispanic minority bloc. Either of these Rats with Gov. Bill "I don't know where that classified nuke info went" Richardson at the bottom of the ticket will be very formidable on the national scene, as the swing tends to vote on feelings, not reality. Even a direct attack might not make them realistic about WWIII. The GOP will have not have any choice but to find a more centrist candidate if we want to keep them out of the White House. I'm as conservative as anybody here, but the stakes are way too huge to make this personal. We know that many of the Republicans are not as conservative as we would like; we also know what the Democrats are. I'd rather get 50% of what I like than 100% of what I don't. We need to be realistic that, at this moment, the White House is the Democrats to lose. Hold your nose at the ballot box and think this through...

I think the ones who are going to run are already out there. It's just a matter of them confirming they can raise the $100 million to run.

It must seriously kill Hillary to see a young guy stealing her glory. A younger woman, you could say it was envy, but that it's someone the press deems "handsome" must drive her insane.

I agree. Soros has wasted more $$ on his political agenda than anyone in history. It started with his spending in Russia, continued with trying to elect Kerry and lambaste W and the GOP. Obama may make a VP candidate, but he is someone with little staying power.
Hildebeast will crush him, unless she is using him to clear the field and then team up as her VP.

What wonderful news on a Monday morning . . .

Then, maybe, just before election day . . . news will come out about Obammamamma swearing to wage Jihad once he gets in power.

or any other such fool thing would be welcome, too.

I would not cry yet for her. Presumably she still has full access to the accounts of Marc Rich, the biggest thief in U.S. history and a member of the Clinton buy-a-pardon club.

Well, gosh, if the choice is between Clinton/Obama and Gore/Obama, considering that the Democrats might win, which is better for the country?

Point taken - they're both disasters.

Giuliani/Santorum 2008: our best bet.

That's a lot of money to be blowing on candidates that are generally worthless.
