The headlines are among the most stark documenting gang violence. A Latino gang member, without saying a word, guns down a 14-year-old black girl standing on a sidewalk. A black gang member shoots a Latino toddler point-blank in the chest.
For the most part, though, the role racial animosity has played in gang crime has gone unexamined, largely undocumented in crime statistics and often tamped down by politicians and law enforcement officials anxious about inflaming tensions.
That changed this month when Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Police Chief William J. Bratton and L.A. County Sheriff Lee Baca all spoke with unusual candor of their concern that an increasing number of gang crimes appear to be born out of racial hatred. In a few instances, the Los Angeles Police Department has identified Latino gangs they say are indiscriminately targeting African American residents in what appear to be campaigns to drive blacks from some neighborhoods.
The acknowledgment by top officials, some activists say, has been a long time coming.

Long gone are the days when gangs just attacked each other, often with knives.
But targeting toddlers and little girls? Unfathomably sick.
Now let's remember class. Illegal immigrants are just here to feed their families.

The victim, a black man with no known gang ties, was shot once in the chest by a Latino gunman who opened fire without uttering a word at about 2 a.m. in the 22500 block of Harvard Boulevard, just about a mile and a half south of where 14-year-old Cheryl Green was shot to death. The man survived.

That's because racism is solely the province of the white man. Spiritually pure oppressed classes can't be racist, can they?
What else would we expect. We make a sanctuary city for these gangs, coddle them then when they start doing what they do, we cry? Of course they are going to come up against the law and order forces.
This can't be happening or true. Everybody knows that only white people, excuse me, WHITE MEN can be racists.
It must be a mistake.
There are no illegal immigrants at the airport!
It is what they do. And the police dept, mayors office and
city council are responsible for setting up a sanctuary city.
Looks like textbook ethnic cleansing.
Since Hispanics have a numerical advantage, blacks will become refugees of sorts, fleeing the violence and moving into nearby neighborhoods not yet overwhelmed by such high degrees of lawlessness.
This is why one needs a buffer zone of one mile (5? 10?) between one's neighborhood and the "bad" parts of town.
The latinos better watch out or Je$$e and RevAl will show up asking for checks because "their people" are being shot.
This has been going on for a long time here...not sure why the LA Times just found out! They had some suicidal lady jump from their parking garage on Friday.

This problem, along with other rampant crime is not going to be stopped. Most of the perps and victims are minorities. If this type of crime were being committed in Beverly Hills, it would be stopped in a NY minute. So we'll hear a lot about it, but see no real solution.
I live north of LA and have watched the scum inch over the mountains for many years now. Unfortunately Bakersfield has become alot like LA which is why we are working on moving.
And Cali wants to ban spankings- Yeah, that'll help kids avoid growing up violent- no parental punishment for their ill behaviours- Spoiled rotten violent brats = high crime you Cali Dolts!!!
Reap the whirlwind Cali- and be prepared for multiple lawsuits against your state for banning parents from raising their kids properly with instruction, love and discipline!

Not a likely scenario. Would require signicicant government subsidy to take place. Your post also infers that the black gang-bangers would or want to flee the violence. That seems contradictory.
