Militia fighters attacked a provincial headquarters in the Shiite holy city of Karbala, killing five American soldiers today, the U.S. military reported.
The statement said "an illegally armed militia group" attacked the building with grenades, small arms and "indirect fire," which usually means mortars or rockets.
"A meeting was taking place at the time of the attack to ensure the security of Shiite pilgrims participating in the Ashoura commemorations," said Brig. Gen. Vincent K. Brooks, deputy commander for Multi-National Division-Baghdad.
Brooks said the meeting was taking place in the Provincial Joint Coordination Center in Karbala when the attack occurred. Iraqi officials and security forces as well as U.S. troops were present, he said.

This demands a strong retaliation by the US, the entire Medhi Army needs to bleed because of this, not just more people put into the catch and release program, they need to be killed.
Immediate counter battery on the launching location, and eliminate threat.
I.E., walk like an Ethiopian, not to misconstrue walking like an Egyptian.
Ping
Until that happens there will be more of the same. Sad, truly sad.
Turban boy just gave us the excuse we need to end his existence and that of the primatives who follow him. Time to utterly destroy Al Sadr and his "people."

KARBALA, Iraq The Provincial Joint Coordination Center (PJCC) in Karbala was attacked with grenades, small arms and indirect fires by an illegally armed militia group Jan 20. Five U.S. Soldiers were killed and three wounded while repelling the attack.

Gen. Vincent K. Brooks, Deputy Commander for Multi-National Division-Baghdad. A meeting was taking place at the time of the attack to ensure the security of Shiite pilgrims participating in the Ashura commemorations.
The attack on the Karbala Provincial Joint Coordination Center was aimed at Coalition and Iraqi Security Forces working together toward a better future for the citizens of Karbala, said Lt. Col. Scott R. Bleichwehl, Spokesperson for Multi-National Division-Baghdad.
The location has been secured by Coalition and Iraqi security forces.
The deceased Soldiers names are being withheld pending notification of their next of kin.

Prayers for these brave soldiers and their families.
Yes. Meanwhile, let us concern ourselves with the quality of life, food, prayer time, free time, etc that those misplaced innocents have at Gitmo. Let us also continue rules of engagement that wont allow us to kill the enemy when in our sights. And to the Marine Corps, keep lynching your own.....it really makes you look good. (Excuse me while I puke)
May the perps and their leaders rot in Hell.
Does the military plan on capturing or killing Sadr or are they only going after his militia? It seems to me that Sadr will just regroup over time and start causing trouble again if he isn't targeted.
