STROUDSBURG, Pa. (AP) - "Goodfellas" actor Paul Sorvino pulled a gun on his daughter's ex-boyfriend after the man pounded on her hotel door and made threats, the daughter testified Tuesday.
"He got in my father's face and said, 'Go ahead, Paul, shoot, I ain't done nothing wrong,'" Amanda Sorvino, 36, told a Monroe County judge. The judge granted her request for a protection-from-abuse order against Daniel Snee, 21.
Amanda Sorvino testified Snee threatened to kill her at a hotel Jan. 3 in Stowe, Vt.; she said she locked herself in the bathroom and called both police and her father. Her 67-year-old father showed up before police, she testified. When police arrived, the young man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, she said.
Sorvino said that she met Snee when he was hired to care for her horses and that they began dating, but that the relationship soured. She said he then began threatening her, and her father "if he ever got in the way."
Sorvino testified that although the threat happened in another state, she wanted a court order that would protect her at another home she has in Monroe County. The order lasts for three years.
Snee could not be reached for comment because he was jailed in Vermont, it was not immediately clear if he has lawyer.
Paul Sorvino, the star of 1982's "That Championship Season," did not accompany his daughter to court Tuesday. His screen credits also include roles in "Goodfellas" and "The Cooler."
He is also the father of Mira Sorvino, who won an Oscar for her role in Woody Allen's 1995 comedy "Mighty Aphrodite."
Joss really came into his own with Buffy. He demonstrated his genius time and time again with that show. He obviously liked the cast from Firefly, as he brought several of them over into Buffy and/or Angel as recurring characters on those shows.
I rarely carry one topic into another thread, but remember how we were talking about how many FR threads become anti-woman? Here's a thread about a man who threatens the life of a woman and her father, and alot of posters IMMEDIATELY blame the WOMAN because she had the AUDACITY to date a younger man. WOW.
8 years is ok but sheesh, this women was 18 years older! That's almost MILF territory. Stiffler's mom!!!!
15 years. Amanda is 36.
OOps! Thought she was 39. Still...
Joss is a man who wrote for dead and undead characters for years... I have great faith in his ability to work around *THAT* detail! LOL
.. .. yuppers ,... & uh bookmark ping , fer later
14 years younger.
well basically i was parodying the naughty teacher pinglist posters. since this is getting such a diff response i figure most of you aren't the ones on those threads saying how lucky the 15 yo boy was etc. i would have called for a pic of the 21 yo but figured people might think i was serious ; )
LOL
you never hear that sort of criticism of the teachers on the naughty teacher pinglist threads, they are always not guilty and their judgment rarely questioned.
Oh all right I'm sorry I ever said anything. Bunch of men on this thread!
Good for him!
Heavens, a Hollywood guy with his own gun!
What will Rosie o'Doughnut say???
Hollywood and the networks are much like government: decisions are made and vast sums of money are controlled by idiots.
Both Firefly and Serenity were fatally damaged by such stupidity, as was Superman Returns this past summer. Dumb scheduling and lack of promotion killed Firefly, and the pathetic studio promotion of Serenity cost them several box-office points.
The Browncoats already knew what the movie was about, but if an uninformed person saw one of the TV promotional trailers they got almost no information as to what the movie was about nor why they should want to see it. The message content of those trailers was almost nil.
Egads. Worse than I thought.
I don't think it is "anti-woman" or "blaming the woman" and it is certainly not about her "audacity" of dating a younger man, but rather how STUPID it is for a 36 y/o woman to be involved with a 21 y/o man, especially one that could not possibly amount to anything other than a sponge off of her substantially better financial position than his.
She is fortunate that she has a daddy that understands the value of guns for self-defense. Otherwise, she would be relying on the "protective court order" and presumably would hope that the paper that the court order is printed on is strong enough to stop a bullet or a knife.
Or Demi Moore?
"I didn't kill you, you did that yourself. I just carried the bullet a while." - Captain Reynolds. The Message.
