Dang! Beat me to it.
CAIR, you are so right that t.v. has given Muslims a bad name. I don't watch 24, but on 9/11 I was watching my local morning news show when programming was interrupted to show LIVE FOOTAGE OF MUSLIM SCUM FLYING AIRPLANES INTO BUILDINGS WITH INNOCENT AMERICANS ON THE PLANES AND IN THE BUILDINGS, FOR DAYS I WATCHED THE SMOLDERING WRECKAGE, KNOWING MY FELLOW COUNTRYMEN WERE LITERALLY INCINERATED, MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN. 3000 DEAD ON A BEAUTIFUL TUESDAY MORNING AND GUESS WHAT? IT WASN'T SOME TV DRAMA IT WAS THE REAL DEAL.
It was on that day, SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 that my thoughts on Muslims was solidified. I WILL NEVER FORGET!
The plot of the hit Fox drama 24 may make for exciting television, but Muslim groups fear their representation as terrorists does more than entertain - it vilifies an entire religious group. Hey, truth is truth; something muzzies are not known for.
I think that TV has quite an effect on how people think, said Nadeem Mazen, past president of the MIT Muslim Association. So much of what we hear on Muslims is hearsay - an expert opinion by people with a personal agenda and not necessarily motivated by truth. And then a show like this comes along that perpetuates the them factor. Hearsay? You've got to be kidding. Not motivated by truth? What in the H E double drumsticks do muzzies know of truth?
The plot of the sixth season of 24 takes place two years in the future and is the most fear-mongering to date. America is being bombarded by Islamic suicide bombers, the presidents chief of staff sets up Muslim internment camps, civil rights and privacy laws are more flexible than Mary Lou Retton and the seemingly sweet Muslim teenager next door happens to be a terrorist complicit in the first nuclear attack on American soil. Nope, don't see anything here that isn't entirely plausible. Two years out may be a stretch.
Of course, its a show. But TV not only reflects the zeitgeist (tone of the times)- it also influences it, some say, meaning the writers of 24 have to be careful, said Rabiah Ahmed, spokeswoman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "Have to be careful...?" Have you heard, we have freedon of speech here in America. Admittedly, the Dummies are bit by bit working hard at stripping that from us but we do enjoy being able to freely speak our minds about the truth.
I saw 24 (on Monday) and we do have concerns with the show, Ahmed said. We are monitoring it and will be contacting our contacts at Fox to discuss those concerns. Well you just go ahead and contact your, um, contacts. Discuss away. Fox better not bow to Islamic demands - oh -I mean "concerns". (No I don't - I mean demands - that's how they have gotten their way with the pope, etc. If Fox bows to them I guess we're done with Fox. This is the USA and the muzzies don't know much about us. They should, but they're too busy plotting against us to see us as we are.
According to Ahmed, her organization and the creators of 24 have a good relationship - in fact, two years ago, when a Muslim family was depicted as terrorists, they listened to the concerns of the Muslim community. Listening is one thing. Bowing to them is entirely a pig of a different color.
After we met with them, they understood where we were coming from and took measures to ameliorate and mitigate the damages of the (plot), including running a public service announcement, she said. Funny you don't tell us what the PA said. I didn't hear it but can't help but wonder just how ameliorating it could have been. Like all Americans, we like a good show and a good drama. But as an advocacy group, we have to consider the image and interest of our community. Your image is what Islam makes it, not what a good drama depicting what you have rot. Sounds like the public image is right on the money.
Syed M. Ali Khan of the Muslim Community Support & Services in Braintree just hopes audiences consider the source, so to speak. Oh, do not fear, we will most certainly consider the source.
TV shows are out to make money and get ratings, he said. They arent there to create awareness. Oh my goodness, my sides are aching from laughing to hard. TV shows consider it their duty to bring about public awareness. I'm not certain that duty exists 100% of the time, but in this case, oh sure. Duty it is. I hope people realize that its just a money-making machine and (are) not stupid enough to buy into the propaganda. 'There you go again', not able to see the source of the real stupidity. If you think Americans are stupid you have another think coming. Propaganda my, uh, foot.
I hear season 7 will focus on Amish terrorists.
Awwwwww....
CAIR is whining.
Water is wet.
Ice is cold.
Grass is green.
[So, what's new?]
And where were the "good Muslims" on 9-11?? They "submitted". They were just what the Koran promoted "mindless followers".
"we will be monitoring it".
Listen up folks. The left, including radical jihadist sympathizers, has been monitoring all of the media, especially conservative programming, looking for things that they can condemn over.
The good part is that this program, 24, is annoying a lot of leftists and radical jihadist sympathizers, so it must be portraying the truth!
Islamofascist murderers have "quite an effect" on how people think, too. Their beef is with the Wahabists (sp?).
And what, exactly, are they doing watching TV if they are good little muzzies? I thought TV and entertainment was banned.
Hey Ahmed, I've got a better idea... Why don't you monitor the newspapers and TV & radio news, then then contact your contacts at hezbollah, hamas, and al queda, about your concerns that their terrorist acts are giving muslims a bad name in the media.
Maybe if they stopped blowing up innocent women and children, the perception that all terrorists are muslim would go away, given the simple fact that the vast majority of terrorist acts are committed by muslims!
Mark
I thought it was a special news cast. You mean it is a tv show?
***YAWN***
His retort was one of the best lines in the show. "Will you stop being a lawyer for one minute."
Good Americans come in many different colors, enthic groups, and religions.
Ha ha....good one for my first morning laugh.
Gee, um, 24 is a fictional show!
"Fiction (from the Latin fingere, "to form, create") is storytelling of imagined events and stands in contrast to non-fiction, which makes factual claims about reality."
Why don't the Muslims speak out against the jihadists whom the stereotype is modeled from?
If the muslims are concerned - 24 must have NAILED IT!!!
And where oh where were they when Showtime aired its 'Sleeper Cell' series???
You mean A-c-c-h med?
Bet if the show was shown in a Masque they would be cheering when the nuke went off. Hey CAIR, we don't!
Pray for W and Our Troops
