Bush will never be vindicated -- he'll go down in history as the architect of a disaster. He has spent the entire last three years fighting a limited war and giving the democrats complete leeway to oppose this war and create an opposition that is now completely entrenched across economic, ethnic, and political divisions.

Bush still talks more about how we should save the iraqis than he does about how we should kill -- yes KILL -- islamic fundamentalists. Seriously, who gives a rip about the iraqis? They and their form of government have never been the reason we are fighting terrorists.

Bush is the worst communicator as president I have ever seen. He has yet -- after five years -- to define victory against terrorism in a way that has any meaning and value to Americans. Because he won't define it, we won't defeat it. He's lost his moral authority in my opinion.

OK, I follow you point but unless you have been living under a rock it is the Media that castrated Bush. You cannot fight the media when it sides with your political adversaries. Yes Bush could make stronger decisions but it reminds me of how stupid people are that applaud Clinton when he with waggy finger on Fox news told America that he tried but failed to get UBL... Tried but failed which caused 911. At least GWB tried and succeeded in stopping Saddam Hussein from threatening America.... The Iraq war is a success story of dramatic proportion if you happen to believe that Saddam emboldened by UBL success on 911 would have eventually sponsored suicide missions in the U.S. which would have killed tens of thousands of US citizens.... with that thought process the whole Iraq issue is moot.

The most fundamental error was deciding to fight a war against "terror". That is like trying to fight a war against war.

We can't even name the enemy that causes this "terror". If we can't truthfully identify the enemy we have little chance of winning a war against it.

One also has to recognize that Islam is more than a religion. It is a political ideology like Nazism. Until we can bring ourselves to say that this ideology is incompatible with free people and must be stopped it will continue. We pretend that it is limited to only the bad fruit on the Islamic tree. But the truth is, it is the tree itself that is toxic. And as long as the tree is left to grow in the name of religious freedom, it will continue to produce the same fruit of death and destruction that it has for centuries.

It doesn't matter HOW the President has conducted the war. The Dems and the MSM are gonna bitch no matter what he does, because they just don't like him! It hasn't helped that some on the right are biting at his ankles, too.

The President is trying to encourage folks to fight for their own freedoms, because he knows that unless they WANT it, they won't get it, no matter now much help we try to give them. He knew that Sadaam was a threat to stability in the Middle East, and when he had the opportunity, and the support of many of the countries at the UN, he took that chance, and got rid of that madman.

Yes, we're likely to be in Iraq a long time, just as we were in Japan and Germany, after WWII. Heck, we're STILL in both those countries because we know they are strategic locations, just as is Iraq.

NOT killing indiscrimately in Iraq has helped our position there, and I'm sure most soldiers know that, even though they desperately want to fight against the terrorists as much as they can. NOT bombing villages just to kill a few terrorists who might be there is a lot better in the long run, but most folks can't see past next week, so they can figure that out. They want things to be concluded right away, but it doesn't work that way in real life when you're dealing with a culture that is opposite of what we accept as normal.

The President is also trying to work with those Muslims who want to modernize their faith, and yes, there ARE some who want to do that. He is trying to appeal to the majority of Muslims who do NOT want to kill others, simply because they don't share their faith, while he's working to incapacitate or destroy those who hate anyone who is different.
