LONDON (Reuters) -- Oil prices plunged more than 3 percent back near $51 a barrel Tuesday after Saudi Arabia said OPEC production cuts were working well and that there was no need for an emergency meeting of the producer group.

The Saudis recognize that the inevitable end of the internal combustion engine is stalking them (much like the crocodile that followed Captain Hook). It is creeping ever closer and will soon, hopefully spell their doom.

Actually, America did do things, which radically improved efficiencies of use and essentially stalled the growth in dependence on foreign oil for years. No doubt, if the impetus is ever there again, we can redouble those efforts and achieve the same result. I just want the powers that be to appreciate how much we can do to our nemeies like Venezuela and Iran, and influence a wobbling Russia, by increasing our own supplies and stifling demand enough to keep the price falling.
