A Fairfax Republican will carry this year's version of a measure that would close the so-called gun show loophole in Virginia.
State Sen. Jeannemarie Devolites Davis, R-Fairfax, is sponsoring the bill that gun control advocates contend would close what they call a loophole that allows people to buy firearms from unlicensed dealers without a background check at gun shows. Similar measures have died in past legislatures -- last year, a proposal pushed by state Sen. Henry L.Marsh III, D-Richmond, died in the Senate Courts of Justice Committee.
Davis described her bill "as not about taking away anybody's Second Amendment rights" but a "commonsense bill."

I still do... I just don't feel so good about it these days.
What I wouldn't give for a viable third party.

Federal law does not currently regulate private firearms transactions-it's NOT a loophole. This is just more liberal Newspeak, like 'Saturday Night Special' or 'assault weapon'.

'Pubbies are useless. And yet I keep voting for them... Why?? How many so-called "turncoat" Republicans does it take to convince conservatives that Republicans - from Lincoln through Bush II - never gave two s**ts about freedom and rights. You can't call anti-gun (and other anti-Bill of Rights) Republicans traitors or turncoats if they're the rule rather than the exception.

"Why?? "
Because I'm one of those idiots who still insists that the 'Pubs are the lesser of two evils. My perception still hasn't caught up with reality. Either that, or I'm being intellectually dishonest with myself.

so-called gun show loophole At least they used the correct phrase, "so-called". The entire gun show connection is a farce and smokescreen to obscure the real question:
"Should it be legal for a private individual to sell a firearm to another private individual?"
Obviously for most of us here the answer is a absolute yes, as it applies to any other piece of private property and our personal privacy in what we can or should be able to do with it.
Anytime somebody asks me about this 'loophole' crap I ask them directly what they believe about the private sale of guns. There is no difference, only location.
There is no difference in the 'loophole' question from the banning of private sales. It's only location.

Let's not forget Ronald Reagan endorsing the Brady Bill and signing the "Make it financially impossible for any normal person to buy a machine-gun commerce act of 198?"

RINO. When you hear "gun control" and "common sense" in the same breath, you have a leftist gun grabber.

Davis described her bill "as not about taking away anybody's Second Amendment rights" What part of "shall not be infringed" does this RINO not understand?
in-fringe (ĭn-frĭnj')
v. in-fringed, in-fring-ing, in-fring-es
v. intr.
To encroach on someone or something; engage in trespassing: the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Does anybody remember "Red Dawn"?
When the enemy took over a town, they went to the gun registration lists to get most weapons.
