I am a huge fan of 24 and have noticed this year, a lot more "Are we violating somebody's rights??? (whine, whine) being done and some not-so-veiled attacks on the Bush administration.
Ironically though, they also have some interesting contradictions to that...like the time Jack is torturing a guy and he decides the suspect has no more information because he "sees it in his eyes", then his Islamic traitor ally sticks a knife in the guy's kneecap and the guy starts spilling info. In other words, TORTURE WORKED!
The fact is, there ARE suitcase nukes out there, and there ARE Islamofacists that would use one in a heartbeat if they could.
Unlike in 24, it won't go off in a remote warehouse, it will go off adjacent to a football stadium full of people, or a business district at 2pm.
Yep. The MSM wants to avoid all fact and reality. They are the ones perpetrating fear, not shows like 24.
I saw that scene as showing that Jack had lost his edge after being tortured in a Chinese prison for two years, and that had affected his ability to do what needed to be done. (cough)MCCAIN!(cough)
And nobody tortures as well as the Muzzies. Hence we send Khalid Shiek Mohammed to Egypt for a little "chat".
"The fact is, there ARE suitcase nukes out there..." False
I dunno, perhaps give it more time to see where they are really heading with all that. I would think that after last night it is making the ACLU libs as portrayed by Sandra Palmer look like the fools they are. Probably a lot of viewers may have noted that while the innocent contingent in the detention camps may be having some of the 'rights violated', they are still alive, unlike tens of thousands of innocents in Valencia, CA.
This show could do the country a great service if it causes a lot of thought and discussion about the fact that some situations have only painful/high cost options, sometimes the best choice is the lesser of evils.
I think their presentation of the "rights" argument shows the idiocy of the argument in a time of war.
that is being done to show the reality of tensions that would exist within an administration if something like this were to happen.

If often does...
...as it did with John McCain.
It is obvious that torture does work and anyone who says it doesn't is either a liar, a wishful thinking pansy, ignorant or all the above.
If you buy 24 on DVD [I do] they have a "extra feature" wherein the cast, the writers, an audience in Santa Monica and others discuss 24, Republicanism and the use of torture in 24.
It was interesting.
