Truer words are seldom posted here. In the words of the Pope, "It is as it was." I have always argued that if the whole of America was kept in a fevered blood thirsty pitch, if every night, our media was celebrating the mangled carcases of our enemies and Americans were calling for more, we would have more world support and our foes would be trembling. In my fantasy world, the unquenchable blood thirsty American's would so scare the likes of Iran and N. Korea, that less violence would be necessary.

Sometimes a bark can be more effective than the bite. An important war strategy has always been propaganda. We did well in this area during the original invasion of Iraq with embedded reporters. Then they all went home and turned on us. The military needs to go back to training and employing their own broadcast media.

I'm not really an expert, but to my more or less untrained eye this is how it all looks to me:

This is really interesting from a psyops point of view. In it, we see the Iraqi insurgents, not as they are portrayed by the western media (as the brave defenders of a culture being dominated by a corrupt foreign invader interested only in oil profits) but as they truly are; as they see themselves.

One of the most striking things about them is that they have been careful to include every weapon in their possession in the video. This is no doubt to show how powerful and menacing they are, but in total it's no more than handful of small arms, a pair of decades old Russian RPG's, and about $300 worth of ammunition. The small arms are mostly Russian designed AK47's, and SKS's which are notorious for their reliability but all fire the short range, low velocity bullet that the Russian army abandoned decades ago. We also see close-ups of a large supply of the now 100 year old 7.62x54 millimeter bullet the Russian designed in 1891 and used in their civil war and WWII. In the video they're linked together in a cloth bandoleer to give the impression that they are actually a chain of bullets for use in an automatic weapon. In total, $1,500 and a few hours of dedicated haggling could get you the same kit anywhere in Iraq.

The insurgents themselves are not in good physical shape, and from their dress, quite poor. From the looks of it, they have received only minimal training. Several are overweight and would offer no competition to our troops on the group face to face. Their plans are drawn in the same way as a bunch of Texas adolescents planning the next play in their pick up football game...with toy cars and lines drawn in the mud. And eventually we see that they are executed with roughly the same efficacy.

It's also interesting how the tone of the video is more or less designed to appeal to an adolescent mindset. You can almost hear the intended viewers saying the Farsi equivalent of "WOW! that would be so cool... we could wear a bandoleer and cruise around with our black masks and guns! We'd like... totally rule! And if anybody gave us any $#^@ we'd like... just blow them away!"

Later while traveling to their op in the back of a pickup truck, (the most imposing piece of equipment they possess) they are attacked by a force of American troops. Using modern weapons, the Americans hit them from so far away that they can't be seen. In just a few moments their transport is riddled with holes, and they are diving every which way for cover and struggling to stay composed. Eventually, they are all killed, and never see their attackers.

It's theoretically possible that they also inflicted heavy losses on the US forces attacking them, but given the state of their gear it's exceedingly unlikely. What is more likely is that they never so much as caused a scratch. It takes real skill to kill with a rifle, and to kill with the equipment the Iraqi's carried it takes a great deal of skill and enormous luck, even at short range. And given the number of bullet holes in them, it doesn't look like they had either.

They may look good to all the other untrained, illiterate, uneducated wanna be tough guys in Iraq, but this was really a case of Bambi vs. Godzilla. And this is boots against boots. We didn't use any air power, indirect artillery, laser guided bombs, satellite based weaponry or anything else at our disposal.

Nice Video.

More proof we need troops in Iraq, like a magnet for the dirt-bags.

Every time I hear Pelosi say we lost 3000 troops in Iraq, I want to scream that we lost 3000 hear on 9-11 that did not have a fighting chance.

An important war strategy has always been propaganda.

The greatest phrase I have ever read on this website, no truer sentence has ever been written. People don`t realize how incredibly important propaganda is, Republicans included.

I hate to say it, but Bush is an incredibly horrible speaker. The guy can`t speak for more than 30 seconds without flubbing a word, plus when he speaks emotion is non-existent. He seems to be more concerned about getting his words right than speaking from the heart, going "non-official" and letting his humanity out. Martin Luther King was a master of that kind of speaking. MLK could speak for hours without ever looking at one note because he spoke from the heart, he let it flow, and that kind of speaking can change attitudes in seconds. Bush on the other hand won`t go that route, I don`t know why. Maybe it`s fear or insecurity, but he is never going to get to where he could be by speaking as he does now.

This can`t happen when you are addressing millions of people. Not saying he is not a great President with courage and integrity, but damn man, the MSM destroys the guy everyday. Compare him to Reagan...If Reagan was President right now he`d have everyones rage against these terrorists in a frenzy. Bush needs to stop with the bullshit hangups about speaking and get enraged, get passionate about taking out these f**ks whose only purpose is the total destruction of modern society. Until he does, terrorism and liberals will walk all over him.

I am proud of our boys, my only regret is that some of our politicians who continually bitch about the military, weren't out riding with their friends.
