US military strike on Iran seen by April ’07

KUWAIT CITY: Washington will launch a military strike on Iran before April 2007, say sources. The attack will be launched from the sea and Patriot missiles will guard all oil-producing countries in the region, they add. Recent statements emanating from the United States indicate the Bush administration’s new strategy for Iraq doesn’t include any proposal to make a compromise or negotiate with Syria or Iran. A reliable source said President Bush recently held a meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Secretary of State Dr Condoleezza Rice and other assistants in the White House where they discussed the plan to attack Iran in minute detail.

According to the source, Vice President Dick Cheney highlighted the threat posed by Iran to not only Saudi Arabia but the whole region. “Tehran is not playing politics. Iranian leaders are using their country’s religious influence to support the aggressive regime’s ambition to expand,” the source quoted Dick Cheney as saying. Indicating participants of the meeting agreed to impose restrictions on the ambitions of Iranian regime before April 2007 without exposing other countries in the region to any danger, the source said “they have chosen April as British Prime Minister Tony Blair has said it will be the last month in office for him. The United States has to take action against Iran and Syria before April 2007.”

Claiming the attack will be launched from the sea and not from any country in the region, he said “the US and its allies will target the oil installations and nuclear facilities of Iran ensuring there is no environmental catastrophe or after effects.” “Already the US has started sending its warships to the Gulf and the build-up will continue until Washington has the required number by the end of this month,” the source said. “US forces in Iraq and other countries in the region will be protected against any Iranian missile attack by an advanced Patriot missile system.”

He went on to say “although US Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Dr Condoleezza Rice suggested postponing the attack, President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney insisted on attacking Tehran without any negotiations based on the lesson they learnt in Iraq recently.” The Bush administration believes attacking Iran will create a new power balance in the region, calm down the situation in Iraq and pave the way for their democratic project, which had to be suspended due to the interference of Tehran and Damascus in Iraq, he continued. The attack on Iran will weaken the Syrian regime, which will eventually fade away, the source said.

Yes, Venezuelan refugees. Why? Because they can see their future and it's grim. Great. More illegals.

Would Chavez dare attack us if we attack Iran?

Gosh, I sure hope so! What a great excuse to take down this clown...

Whoever said Venezuela could invade Mexico needs to look at a map. Chavez has supported the drug trading cartel Columbia has been fighting.

On Iran, I think Bush is working that in a number of ways, but I do not see him passing that threat on to the next admin. There must be a date beyond which impeachment would not be doable. That's the date bombing becomes more likely.

Once upon a time, I believe Mexico used to have a pretty good military. I think it's declined in recent years, but it seems as if their new president is very much interested in building it up again and improving its quality (personnel as well as equipment). But I wouldn't put it beyond Chavez, who is widely thought to have been involved in the strange affair of the leftist party that refused to concede the presidential election that they lost, to try an attack if he thought we were busy.

I can't stand the guy (Chris Matthews) and I hope when he gets wind of this latest news he just spontaneously combusts!

Chrissy and Olberman are sure-fire remedies for low blood pressure.

Lay that out for me. How is he going to get to Mexico to attack it? Do you see him marching across the Andes and jungles of Central America? Or does he have an amphibious fleet? Last I heard, all he had 100,000 AK47's.

Gratefully, this CINC will not fit the usual and customary lame duck mold, that many hold in store for him. They will be disappointed. Game on! ;0)

Has anyone considered that we may be bluffing in order to coerce Iran into ceasing it's interference in Iraq?

After taking out Iraq and Afghanistan, I think we have a lot of serious coercive ability that can be leveraged through a convincing bluffing display...

Of course, if my theory is right, then we won't make any overt statements or ultimatems. It will just be left for Iran to look at the "obviousness" of our preparations and movements.

Opportunities are often times disguised as problems.

Problem # 1- Afghanistan.
Problem # 2- Iraq.

On Iran's eastern border lies Afghanistan.
On Iran's western border lies Iraq.

And in between the two, I see opportunity.

To borrow a certain slogan from the Guiness beer commercial;

Brilliant!

Who knows? The Mexican government complained several times last year about incursions by Venezuelans into Mexican territory. VZ denied it, of course, but I have no doubt that they did it and were probing. They do have a small fleet of fast new boats, btw, not enough for an amphibious landing on a large scale, but certainly enough to cause trouble.

I think it will be bluffing up until the point that force is used.

If Iran changes its ways in Iraq and gives up in nuclear efforts then history will look back on this as a victorious bluff, if not, then it's war.

The moves are just too big.

Having two carrier groups operate in the region together and not part of a regular rotation for the first time since the Iraq war...

Forcing the Reagan to deploy earlier than planned to the Pacific to cover for the Stennis...

Patriot missile units deploying for the first time since the Iraq war...

AWACS aircraft being moved into Turkey for the first time since the Iraq war...

15th MEU being asked to stay in the region an extra 45 days with the Boxer instead of rotating as normal...

These and many more indicators are more than just signals to try and get Iran worried, this is real world positioning.
