I really don't understand what the big deal with this empty suit is. He represents all that is liberal. There's not a dime's worth of difference between him and any other out-of- controldemocrat in congress. He's basically a light-skinned black man which in and of itself makes him acceptable to the democratic party racists.
There is nothing there . . . no there there. Hollow. Empty.
He has as much substance as Paris Hilton (altho she's a tad better looking)

"Harry Belafonte, the calypso singer who became an influential civil rights activist, said America needed to be careful about Obama: We dont know what hes truly about. Harry's not black, he's a RED Communist. Harry thinks Obama isn't a radical revolutionary willing to wage open war against the US.
Harry Belafonte Calls Black Republicans 'Tyrants'
By Marc Morano
August 08, 2005
Atlanta (CNSNews.com) - Celebrity activist Harry Belafonte referred to prominent African-American officials in the Bush administration as "black tyrants" at a weekend march, and he also compared the administration to Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany.

Hes a young man in many ways to be admired, Belafonte said.
Obviously very bright, speaks very well, cuts a handsome figure. But all of that is just the kings clothes. Whos the king?

The activists don't like him because he's stolen their thunder.
While obama is as liberal as it comes, he's not some poverty pimp two-bit hustler like Blood Diamonds Jackson or Rev. Al Race Card Puller.
He doesn't every time he gets in front of a mic start spouting about how everything is some conspiracy by big whitey to keep colored people down which is how these activists make a buck.
That's why they feel the heat.

Think Obama Mania is largely an interest aggregation thing. Democrats have difficulty moblizing young voters ( A Conservative skill set) and minorities particularly black voters. While the percentage of blacks voting for dems is high at 89% the turnout among blacks is comparatively low. The Obama Hype is an effort to energize that demographic. it may work temporarily but will fade over time.

The unexpected coolness between the old civil rights guard and the new Democratic hopeful... Since when is Banana Boat Belefonte a member of the civil rights establishment? Since he started bloviating a few years ago, taking advantage of the Hate Bush atmosphere? I think he was interviewed on the O'Reilly Factor. Does that make him important? Or is it because he had a hit record back in the '50's?

Just my guess, but it appears from the article that Obama has not paid the normal extortion fees to Rev Jesse Jackson, Rev Al Sharpton or Harry Belafonte.

I think a lot of black activists (liberal and conservative, mind you) are annoyed because the media paints him as the great new black leader when he's not even really black! Sure, his skin is dark, and he has African ancestry, but he's not a true black American - he's not descended from slaves. On top of that, he had an extremely privileged background that very few black OR white kids get to experience. He's in no way qualified to speak about what it's like to be a black man in America. That's why I think the activists are (rightly) pissed.
