Iran Tells Iraq To Stop U.S. 'Adventurism'
Radio Free Europe ^ | 2007-01-13

Iran today called on Iraq to work to release five Iranian officials arrested by U.S. forces in Iraq and stop American "adventurism" in the war-ravaged country.

The IRNA news agency said that Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki told his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar al-Zebari in a telephone conversation, that America's "illegal and adventurist acts should stop in Iraq."

Six Iranians were arrested in a night-time swoop by U.S. forces on an office in the northern Iraq city of Irbil on January 11, one of whom has since been released.

Mottaki also demanded that Iraqi authorities "seriously seek to release the Iranian consulate members in Irbil."

The United States has said the men had links to Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards and none of them held diplomatic passports. Iran however insists the men were diplomats.

Bush Authorization

In an interview ahead of her Middle East trip, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told "The New York Times" that U.S. President George W. Bush has decided to go after Iranian networks in Iraq.

The newspaper quotes Rice as saying a recent series of U.S. raids against Iranians in Iraq was carried out under an order from Bush that authorized a broad military offensive against Iranian operatives in Iraq.

Rice referred to what U.S. officials say is evidence that many sophisticated roadside bombs being used against American forces in Iraq were made in Iran.

Rising Tensions

Amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran, White House spokesman Tony Snow stepped in on January 12 to deny speculation that Washington plans a military attack against either Iran or its ally Syria.

"I want to address kind of a rumor, an urban legend that's going around -- and it comes from language in the president's Wednesday night [January 10] address to the nation, that in talking about Iran and Syria, that he was trying to prepare the way for war with either country and that there are war preparations under way. There are not," Snow said.

In his speech on January 10, Bush vowed U.S. forces would "seek out and destroy" any networks bringing weapons or fighters from Syria or Iran into Iraq, and said he had ordered a second U.S. aircraft carrier strike group to the Gulf region. Bush also said the United States would deploy Patriot missile defense systems to "reassure" friends and allies in the region.

Mid East Tour

Iran and Iraq will be at the top of Rice’s agenda during her Middle East tour.

The State Department says Rice will hold talks in Israel and the Palestinian territories before traveling to Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. She will conclude her tour in Berlin and London before returning to Washington on January 19.

"seriously seek to release the Iranian consulate members in Irbil". Should that happen, hopefully they'll hit a roadside bomb provided by their own country on their way home.

I say we release them out of the clamshells of a C-130 at 10,000 feet, right over Tehran.

Iraq has very little time left. Either they stand with the U.S. or they side with terror.
If they side with terror then the U.S. will abandon them in which case Iran will support the shia and Saudi Arabia will support the sunni. In which case there will be bloodletting the likes of which has never been seen in the Middle east.
I'm rooting for the bloodletting.
I'm rooting for no more American kids dieing for these savages. Let them revert to killing each other as they have for centuries.

FYI

At the same time that the AP story broke about the 6 Iraqis set on fire and burned alive, the 4 mosque burned and destroyed (I know you remember the story with police captain Jamil Hussein), well the albasrah media outlet was also reporting that 6 Revolutionary Guard agents killed in Baghdad’s “Madinat as-Sadr” car bombings on that Thursday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the six bodies of the Iranian agents were received by Mujtabi Sari Nida, an employee of the Iranian embassy, from al-Kindi Hospital where they had been taken initially after the Resistance attack.

The Iranian regime claimed that the six Revolutionary Guards were present among the Jaysh al-Mahdi gunmen just as “ordinary citizens” on “pilgrimage” to the Shi‘i al-Kazimiyah mosque.

The Iranian agents were killed in a part of Baghdad some 30km from the al-Kazimiyah mosque, the correspondent pointed out, noting that the area was, however, a stronghold for the Jaysh al-Mahdi and Badr Brigade Shi‘i sectarian militias which receive support from Iran and the United States.

The following are the names of the six Iranian “Revolutionary Guards” killed in the Thursday car bomb attacks:

‘Ali Shamkhani, killed by bleeding in the brain;

Baqir Dhu al-Qadr Rida, killed by severe wounds to the chest and back;

Muhammad Husayni, burned to death;

Ramadan Fayruzandah, died of a crushed skull and burns;

Qasim Taskhiri Rida Agha (passport NO. 01459872 from Karmanshahr, Iran) had his leg blown off and suffered a wound to the neck;

‘Ali Farhad Salmani, died of a severe lateral cut on his chest and from having both legs blown off.

alBasrah is a sunni extremist (baathist) source. I seriously cannot give them any credibility. This might be true, but just as well might be a lame attempt to justify a carbomb-slaughter of civilians.

We will stop our adventurism when Iran stops their bring-the-apocalytism and their support-the-isugentism so they can just STFUism.

Not me!

I'm rooting for the ones, and their families, who ARE laying and HAVE laid their lives on the line fighting side by side with us. Those who walked miles and miles to vote after being told if they voted they would be shot. Men, women and children who have turned in the insurgents to our forces. People like the ones who helped us get Saddam and Uday and Qusay and Zarqawi.

If you love blood, there's lots of violent games, movies and tv shows in which you can drown yourself in the red stuff.

I'd love to see the good Iraqis prevail. Until they take a stand against ALL the killing it isn't going to stop. It is a faction thing though. If you are killing those against our faction then it is ok. They are not a nation, they are a bunch of factions. Until and unless they come together as a nation there will be no peace and our boys should not be the worlds cops trying to get them to make nice.
