A US Air Force sergeant who appears nude in the latest edition of Playboy magazine has been stood down from duties as an investigation begins.
Michelle Manhart, 30, is pictured in a range of poses, some while wearing uniform and striking a military pose, others while stripped naked.
The air force said in a statement her actions "does not meet the high standards we expect of our airmen".
Ms Manhart said she did not expect to be disciplined and defended the photos.
Ms Manhart, who is married with two children, appears in the February issue of Playboy's US edition.
In a six-page spread she is photographed in camouflage uniform shouting and holding weapons under the headline "Tough Love".
Other pictures are more explicit.
Dismay
She defended her decision to pose for the magazine, pointing out that she works in training air force recruits and has served her country since 1994.

They picked me to train these individuals so if they elect to say I don't have [integrity] then that's their opinion

"Of what I did, nothing is wrong, so I didn't anticipate anything, of course," she told the Associated Press.
"I didn't do anything wrong, so I didn't think it would be a major issue.
"They picked me to train these individuals so if they elect to say I don't have [integrity] then that's their opinion."
Oscar Balladares, a spokesman for Lackland Air Force Base, denounced her actions in a statement.
"This staff sergeant's alleged action does not meet the high standards we expect of our airmen, nor does it comply with the Air Force's core values of integrity, service before self, and excellence in all we do.
"It is not representative of the many thousands of outstanding airmen who serve in the US Air Force today."
A Playboy spokeswoman said two serving women have posed nude in the past, both from the navy.
One was discharged a few months early in June 2000, while the first model was honourably discharged in 1998.
Take an even closer look at your dietary intake.....and I recommend crunches, preferrably inclined (declined, actually).....cradling weight(s) across your upper chest. You will get that 6-pack.
There's something called moral decency that exists in this country. If she want's to admire her own body, fine, do so in the privacy of your own home.
Posing for a jerk off rag is slutty behavior, it's a form of exibitionism.
As for public nudity, it is disrepectful to others, not to mention unclean. It has nothing to do with what one thinks of the human body beauty. It has to do with moral decency, self respect, and respect for others.
The true obscenity is the continued tolerance of traitorous reporters and media types and leftist/activist JAG moles who live to play "gotcha" and set-up our combat personnel for demonization, railroading and prosecution for trying to fight a war against a ruthless enemy. The real obscenity is the PC cowardice of those in command, both military and civilian, who lack the courage to stand up and stop these outrages.
another thread on how porn threatens our military. There were scoffers on that thread too.

Yes, I saw some great pictures of this girl. She is a really fine physical specimen!
And as I said before, she's a very smart and well-spoken girl.
She's great!
She looks like she can ride all night long.
Bollocks. We have Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House. We elected Clinton twice. Don't give me that claptrap about moral decency in the US. If it existed Nancy Pelosi would not be where she is today. Nancy Pelosi represents you. We put her there. That tells me everything I need to know.
Sure, let's all dump on this woman for showing us her evil body parts. Meanwhile, Hillary and Nancy are out there plotting the destruction of our country. Are you proud of them? I'm not. I'm ashamed. I'm ashamed to tell people that we like Nancy Pelosi enough to put her in such an important position. I'd take this naked air force lady anyday of the week over our new Speaker.
At his advanced age, I don't think there'll even be an HONORABLE discharge.

LOL......
In some hands, recruitment won't be the ONLY thing on the rise.
Her fine abs tell me she is a long playing record.
****
Oh yes.
ROFL ....... apparently you haven't been close enough.
;-)
LOL
pot/kettle
Have you seen her interviewd?
Yes, I know.... you have not.
You're just looking as 'green' as always.
Great abs
I am at attention!
nice!
I really don't know what the AF is upset about... does it think its discipline is so fragile that pictures of a nekkid sargeant can harm it? Idiots.
Cute girl. She's probably a decent Sergeant as well. I saw her interview on TV yesterday. She's smart enough to know exactly what she's doing.
I'm guessing the financial opportunities presented by posing for Playboy outweighed the possibilities of being mustered out of the military.
At 12 years of service you have a tough decision to make: Stay in for another 12-18 years or get out and start a civilian career. The finances on the Playboy shoot and the notariety she is receiving far outweigh any pension she might make somewhere down the road.
Thanks for the service and the photos!
Except for a very few MOS's, like the guys that jump in to save downed pilots, being in the Air Force - is like being a civilian in a blue uniform. As a Marine, I was also AMAZED at how many, and how fast, stripes and medals were handed out to the enlisted airmen. And, they've GOT to have the youngest looking Generals in any branch. I'd say the Air Force is definitely a tougher outfit than the Salvation Army.
