A US Air Force sergeant who appears nude in the latest edition of Playboy magazine has been stood down from duties as an investigation begins.
Michelle Manhart, 30, is pictured in a range of poses, some while wearing uniform and striking a military pose, others while stripped naked.
The air force said in a statement her actions "does not meet the high standards we expect of our airmen".
Ms Manhart said she did not expect to be disciplined and defended the photos.
Ms Manhart, who is married with two children, appears in the February issue of Playboy's US edition.
In a six-page spread she is photographed in camouflage uniform shouting and holding weapons under the headline "Tough Love".
Other pictures are more explicit.
Dismay
She defended her decision to pose for the magazine, pointing out that she works in training air force recruits and has served her country since 1994.

They picked me to train these individuals so if they elect to say I don't have [integrity] then that's their opinion

"Of what I did, nothing is wrong, so I didn't anticipate anything, of course," she told the Associated Press.
"I didn't do anything wrong, so I didn't think it would be a major issue.
"They picked me to train these individuals so if they elect to say I don't have [integrity] then that's their opinion."
Oscar Balladares, a spokesman for Lackland Air Force Base, denounced her actions in a statement.
"This staff sergeant's alleged action does not meet the high standards we expect of our airmen, nor does it comply with the Air Force's core values of integrity, service before self, and excellence in all we do.
"It is not representative of the many thousands of outstanding airmen who serve in the US Air Force today."
A Playboy spokeswoman said two serving women have posed nude in the past, both from the navy.
One was discharged a few months early in June 2000, while the first model was honourably discharged in 1998.

I really don't know what the AF is upset about... does it think its discipline is so fragile that pictures of a nekkid sargeant can harm it? Idiots. Being ex-USAF I agree with you. Didn't the Pentagon announce this week that they are going to increase the size of the military by 92,000 troops? I haven't been of enlistment age for a long time, but I can't think of any better motivation. Get start to a smart marketing campaign IMHO. |

And, they've GOT to have the youngest looking Generals in any branch. Well, that's because we learned to stop wrestling around in the dirt about the time we grew pubic hair. :-) |
"Didn't the Pentagon announce this week that they are going to increase the size of the military by 92,000 troops? "
Army and Marines only, the Air Force and Navy are being reduced, the army even tried the "blue to green" program, allowing the air force and navy people to transfer to the army, but there were very few takers.
Thanks HG. I couldn't resist, including my post #90. :)
What an idiot you are. The PCness I am refering to is expecting women to act like men, they won't, also to expect men and women not to be aware of one another sexually just because they are in uniform is also stupidity at it's finest. BTW, asshat, I spent my time in the service and am quite aware of the UCMJ and the code of conduct.
Oh yeah, and I'm impressed with the fake boobs, too. They'll be sticking out like that when she is 70.

LOL!
You apparently have more than a little problem.
I have a few color paint charts from when I was a painter. You could look up the shade of green that you are concerning this intelligent and attractive girl.
You may have posted a dozen really nasty posts on this thread about this girl. That's really odd.
****
And........... I'm sure she's really broken hearted that you can't give respect or credibility to her.
LOL. I'll bet she'd really be bummed.
Thanks...... the girl is FINE!!!
Let me see.............................nope, didn't ask your opinion. Thanks for playing, sport.
Wish that's what it was.......but you miss the point. That's ok. I don't expect you to.
I overheard an Air Force recruiter bad mouthing soldiers to his prospect.
I reminded him that I could learn his job inside of six months but he'd never be man enough to do mine.
Trust me, my stomach won't turn simply because someone disses me.
USAF...so easy a caveman could do it?
Very strange comment to me.
Me too. I disagree with him and he gets his panties in a bunch.
Somebody needs go get themselves a cold beer and chill out a little.
Honestly, if I were going to be jealous of someone, I wouldn't have to look very far to find somebody more worthy of my envy.
Yes - AF chicks are hotter. But Army and Marine women are in better physical condition. A distinction, we're both correct.
She's way out of Slick Willie's league, think more like Paula Jones, and add a little skeeve.
The difference is that violence can be morally good. Under certain circumstances (e.g. to defend one's family from an aggressor) one can use violence in a completely morally licit way. Likewise, nudity in itself is perfectly moral. For example, displaying one's nude body in order to attract one's husband or wife is morally licit.
However, just as murder can never be moral, the display of nudity in order to sexually arouse persons other than one's spouse is never a moral act. Doing so distorts the natural relationship between men and women (marriage) and damages the structure of society by weakening its fundamental building block (the family as founded upon the monogamous union of husband and wife).
This is why it's okay to show the Good Guy blowing the Bad Guy up with an RPG to the chest and not to show the same Good Guy getting it on with some chick.
(The possibility of imitative behavior is also an issue. Kids are impressionable. They like to copy the actions of those they perceive as being "cool". However, even the most impressionable of kids is unlikely to kill somebody just becaue he or she saw T.J. Hooker kill somebody in a rerun. Killing just isn't something that comes naturally to most people. Sex does. Little Jaden and M'Kaylah might not ever dream of sticking a knife in each other's guts, but there's no telling what they might try when it comes to playing doctor.)
Human sexual behavior is morally licit only as it conforms to the natural order of things -- the union of husband and wife and the procreation of children. Pornography is immoral for two reasons: first, because it reduces its subject to the status of a commodity by divorcing his or her sexuality from its proper place in the natural order of things (i.e. family life); second, because (when used for its most obvious purpose) it tempts its user to engage in morally illicit behavior by divorcing the act of sex from its purpose in the natural order of things (i.e. family life),
I'm not trying to be a prude about this. I'm Catholic, not a Puritan. I'm as guilty as any man when it comes to chicks. I like to look at naked women a lot -- maybe too much, may God forgive me. I see nothing wrong with women (or men) displaying their bodies in a healthy, normal way. Short skirts, bathing suits, muscle shirts -- all these are fine if taken in proper context, i.e. by recognizing the beauty of the body as an aspect of the whole human person. I do not object to men noticing good-looking women, women eyeing handsome men, or harmless tease like cheesecake photos or cheerleader uniforms. It is only when dress (or undress) is used to remove human beings from the status of persons in the minds of the viewer -- reducing them to hunks of meat with no value other than as a means to an end -- that nudity becomes immoral.
As married man, I would never want to see my wife, female relatives, or any future daughters reduced to being spank-off fare for some dirty guy. No man wants his own daughter displayed for the pleasure of other men in a Playboy centerfold or on the strip club stage. But if you think about it, every girl that has ever appeared in a centerfold or popped it on a strip-joint runway is some man's daughter.
