Half the crackpots writing about the raid on the liason office
are calling the office a consulate. Any damn thing to make the US look bad.

Begs the question. Since we have troops in Iraq fighting terrorists, why do troops need Presidential approval before going after suspected terrorists? Because they were Iranian? What other possible terrorists are on the Presidential list that needs approval before going after?

Iran would like nothing better then to screw up progress in Iraq. My guess is it's a top priority.

I the article it said ...
"The president seems to have placed diplomacy on the back-burner again," Byrd said.
I think the Iranians have been very diplomatic every time they take action to harm our troops. They seemed loud and clear to me. I wonder how that old KKK dude missed that part.
Maybe KKK Byrde have some kind of vested interest in seeing our troops being killed from the actions the Iranians takes.

And? What is the problem? They the Iranian government and Syria are the biggest problem for our troops and Iraq.

It's a safe bet Iranian terrorist agents were behind this economic sabotage. The only way to stop Iranian instigated terror in Iraq is removing the jihad-o-holic bastards in Tehran, the same ones issuing the orders and paying for all of it through exported oil - which up until now, that Iranian crude oil keeps flowing, as does the millions into Islamic terrorism.
An Iraqi soldier looks at smoke rising from a burning oil pipeline in Kirkuk, about 250 km (150 miles) north of Baghdad, January 11th, 2007.

a raid on an Iranian government liaison office in northern Iraq, a move that has frayed even further the relations between the two countries.
Apparently this writer at the AP thinks our relationship with Iran would be better off if we let the Iranians go about destroying everything for which we've worked.
I'm having a hard time recalling, so someone please remind me how
1.) the AP isn't a liberal cesspool, and
2.) liberals don't value do-gooder rhetoric over actually getting the job done and protecting lives?

It served two goals, try to draw Iran into a battle and see if Maliki was going to interfere. Under the Constitution the President has 30 days to go to congress if he launches an attack on Iran but any attack must be done in the contents of immediate threat. If congress refuses a resolution then the President must cease military operations but by then Iran could be glass.

And .. I read another account which said that this raid TOOK PLACE AS BUSH WAS GIVING HIS SPEECH.
In other words, as Bush was warning Iran and Syria that he was going to challenge their interference in Iraq - the helicopters full of troops were landing in the courtyard of the Embassy in Irbil, and the people inside the Embassy were told (in 3 languages) - SURRENDER OR DIE!
That's the ticket!! Take it to them and make it clear what your intentions are.
I understand a BIGGIE Iranian Islamist was captured in that raid - don't know the guy's name. So our statements about Iran interferring were true - and one of the leaders of the Iranian terrorists was making his home inside the Iranian Embassy in Irbil - cute!

Queen Pelosi will surely conduct a congressional inquiry into this. Did Mr Bush overstep his authority? how dare he take action without cnsulting with Queen Pelosi first!
