More incompetence from Mike Nifong. You announce your bad news on Friday, especially when Monday is a holiday for a lot of people, but only
after the evening news.
I just hope the Special Prosecutor has the stones to do the right thing.

That's my guess as well....Nifong doesn't have the guts or class to drop this case himself, so he passes the buck...what a POS he is.

He is washing his hands of the case so he can go back to those bigots who elected him and say "Look I didnt want to turn them loose, I was forced to recuse myself.
This is just a sneaky way out for Nifong.
Whoever gets the case will dismiss all the charges and Nifong gets home free on it.
What I want to know is when do charges get preferred against the person who started all this crap. Crystal Mass.

I don't know if it makes a big difference- the case would be handled by one of his assistants, and they would not be able to drop the charges without his permission or supervision I would think. Perhaps he is preparing to drop the charges, but doesn't want to be the guy actually dropping the charges in the eyes of the Durham public. One can only hope that this will soon be over.

Does anyone know if this guy Nifong (aka The @ssclown) has any kind of family, wife, kids, what, and have they been taking any grief over any of this mess?

Our NC governor(Democrat) and Attorney General(Democrat) have decided that Nifong hasn't got this race-baiting down yet, so they are bringing in a true master, Al Sharton(Democrat), to show him how it's done.

So now he will turn the case over to another prosecutor who will spend 72 hours watching the clock before he decides to Nolle prosequi the entire fiasco.

Sounds like February 5 is do or die for this case- I bet she won't show up to testify, and that will be the end of it.

Vicomte13 -- this needs repeating, because it says volumes about the government -- all government -- from the town to the country.
This shows you just how stubborn government is, doesn't it.
They are wrong.
It is clear.
The case has wilted.
The prosecutor has wilted.
But they WILL NOT tuck their tails between their legs and surrender.
They WILL NOT DO IT.
They'll replace personnel, but DOGGEDLY continue to hold onto charges against obviously innocent men, rather than surrender.
Sometimes, the only honorable thing to do is surrender.
But government never does.
There's a lesson in this.
