Just heard at the top of the hour. Nifong is recusing himself from the Duke Case as prosecutor.

WalMart has higher standards.
If this story is true, it's basically all over.
There isn't another prosecutor in America that's going to push this non-case, no matter how much the whitey haters stamp their feet and yell.
This shows you just how stubborn government is, doesn't it.
They are wrong.
It is clear.
The case has wilted.
The prosecutor has wilted.
But they WILL NOT tuck their tails between their legs and surrender.
They WILL NOT DO IT.
They'll replace personnel, but DOGGEDLY continue to hold onto charges against obviously innocent men, rather than surrender.
Sometimes, the only honorable thing to do is surrender.
But government never does.
There's a lesson in this.
Damn....LOL....nasty but to the point.
That sounds like a good punishment as long as his cellmate is someone else he railroaded.

Nifong is on the right path. Next he should resign as D/A and wait to be indicted.

I agree with jpl. "What next" is that 2d-in-command at Nifong's office reassigns the case to another prosecutor (perhaps to the 2d-in-command him/herself), who most assuredly will file a curt motion dismissing all charges in mere days.
I'm no expert, but I'm guessing that a replacement prosecutor is appointed; and then, looks for a face-saving (laughter) way out of the legal mess.
I will be interested in a few things.
First, the magnitude of the number of people who are named in the inevitable tort cases; and,
Second, whether Mister Nifong faces anything with potential slams time.

I think he is hoping that this will all just go away and after it dies down they will quietly drop the charges.
One of the father's recently said that Nifong pick on the wrong people and he would make Nifong regret this prosecution.
I'm saying this for myself, but maybe it will benefit you: That is an inexcusable comment. Hoping for someone to be raped is a dark and horrible thought. Please consider surrendering that thought to your higher power.
