Ex-President for Sale
Gather.com ^ | January 8, 2007 | Alan M. Desrhowitz

Ex-President for Sale It now turns out that Jimmy Carter--who is accusing the Jews of buying the silence of the media and politicians regarding criticism of Israel--has been bought and paid for by Arab money. In his recent book tour to promote Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid, Carter has been peddling a particularly nasty bit of bigotry. The canard is that Jews own and control the media, and prevent newspapers and the broadcast media from presenting an objective assessment of the Arab-Israeli conflict, and that Jews have bought and paid for every single member of Congress so as to prevent any of them from espousing a balanced position. How else can anyone understand Carter’s claims that it is impossible for the media and politicians to speak freely about Israel and the Middle East? The only explanation – and one that Carter tap dances around, but won’t come out and say directly – is that Jews control the media and buy politicians. Carter then presents himself as the sole heroic figure in American public life who is free of financial constraints to discuss Palestinian suffering at the hands of the Israelis.

Listen carefully to what Carter says about the media: the plight of the Palestinians is “not something that has been acknowledged or even discussed in this country... You never hear anything about what is happening to the Palestinians by the Israelis.” He claims to have personally “witnessed and experienced the severe restraints on any free and balanced discussion of the facts.” He implies that the Jews impose these “severe restraints.” He then goes on to say that the only reason his book--which has been universally savaged by reviewers--is receiving such negative reviews is because they are all being written by “representatives of Jewish organizations” (demonstrably false!). So much for the media.

Jimmy Carter Mucks For Bucks. My all time favorite Jimmy Carter anecdote. During the planning for Jimmy Carter's ingenious hostage rescue mission, he asked that they try to avoid killing Iranians in the process. True story.

When I agree with Dershowitz, I REALLY agree with Dershowitz. Carter is going to wish that he had simply sucked it up and debated the man...

meticulously catalogues Carter’s ties to Arab moneymen, from a Saudi bailout of his peanut farm in 1976

Good grief.

What else was Carter doing in '76? Oh, that's right, running a successful campaign for President of the United States. So he was taking personal money from the Muslims prior to being president?

Good grief.

Wow. I've read Mein Kampf several times in order to understand the mindset of a genocidal maniac like Hitler. Hitler was convinced there was a Jewish conspiracy not only behind all the ills of the world, but also behind the media's silence on the issue. This served as justification in his mind for the extermination of the Jews.

It's frightening how close Carter sounds to several passages in Mein Kampf.

If Carter had been drinking and driving, got stopped by the cops and started shouting these things from his book, would there be outrage?

Jimmah Al-Carterini should have built a few houses for the poor and shut the hell up.

He almost made his life worthwhile and justified his existence.

Now his having lived is a net loss for mankind.

No. Part of Gibsons villification was about The Passion and Jesus Christ.

From the man who released the terrorist scourge onto the world.

Hopefully there's a "special place" waiting for him when he passes on.

Isn't it a crime to act as a paid agent or lobbyist of a foreign interest without disclosing that to the government? In any case I look forward to the day when we are shut of this lunatic. What a disgrace to the Presidency. Shame on the people out there who voted for this man.
